Sebelumnya, Kemenkominfo sempat mengimbau untuk melakukan pendaftaran serupa menggunakan kartu KTP atau kartu pelajar. Namun, saat itu tidak ada proses validasi didalamnya, sehingga data masih mungkin dimanipulasi.Kali ini proses validasi akan berlangsung otomatis. Data NIK dan nomor KK yang dicantumkan dalam proses aktivasi via SMS ataupun Website nantinya akan dicocokkan dengan data yang dimiliki oleh Dinas Kependudukan dan Kantor Catatan Sipil (Dukcapil), sehingga pengguna tidak bisa lagi sembarangan memasukkan nomor. Aturan baru ini akan berlaku mulai 31 Oktober 2017. Selain itu, pelanggan lama juga diwajibkan untuk mendaftar ulang dengan waktu paling lambat pada 28 Februari 2018 mendatang.
