Golf Premier League (GPL) was conceptualised & launched in March, 2015 in Vadodara by Aashish Dholakia, Nirav Patel, Pramod Dave, Vineet Rathi & Vikram SinghalGaekwad Baroda Golf Club (GBGC), under the patronage of Shrimant Samarjitsinh Gaekwad, was very receptive and supportive in making it happen and the response was overwhelming from all GBGC members in the first year of launch
GPL is a true test of a golfer's mettle wherein they have to achieve a consistent score over 18 holes and 4 rounds
There is an intense spirit of gamesmanship & competition over the 3 months that GPL is conducted from mid-Jan till mid-Apr in an IPL based format
The players are bought in an open auction by potential team owners and these teams then vie for top 3 positions on total net score on full handicap basis
GPL is conducted with strict adherence to the R&A Rules, and this format was really appreciated by the members of GBGC
All top players of GBGC are participants and till date >120 Players have participated with >28 owners along with several followers and sponsors
The format of GPL was modified in 2016 & the revised format of play has brought increased vigor and competitiveness
In 2017 we're continuing with the same format as in 2016
