Description
This app temporarily sets an ultra short screen timeout to make screen turn off without explicitly locking the device. The lock screen will activate according to your device settings. This technique does not interfere with Smart Lock, Fingerprint or other biometric unlock methods.BENEFITS

Many other screen-off apps also lock your device. The next time you try to unlock the device you will get this or a similar message: "Draw pattern instead of using Fingerprint recognition because of security policy". My app is a workaround, because it does not lock your device directly.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If the screen doesn't stay off and comes back on after a few seconds, please adjust the Timeout value. On the Nexus 6P a setting of about 7 seconds is reported to work well. LG phones need a setting of 15sec or longer. Please experiment using the on-screen-power button to test.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+
I received multiple reports of the app not working properly on the new Samsung phones. I tested it and it worked OK for me. Of course I cannot test every version of the S9 so please email me if you have any problems, I will give you a full refund.

5 ★Had a little problem getting started, but a couple of emails to the developer with very quick responses got me straightened out. Tried many other screen off apps but they all lock the screen and require you to use password or fingerprint to unlock This one doesn't. Great app! What I've been looking for for over a year.
1 ★Very misleading description. Cannot set screen off time for 0 seconds or even 4 seconds without screen still being active. Timer seems faulty as well, as a screen off for 4 seconds still wakes to touch. Nova Launcher implementation is both better and free. BTW, paid version has a freaking ad at the bottom...high ratings on this must be paid for shills.
4 ★Good to use without interfering PIN and fingerprint unlock. One bug found on my HTC 10, Android v6.0.1, I need touch screen one time during transition to screen off, otherwise, home screen will finally appear w/o screen off.

5 ★Works great with Samsung S7 & fingerprint unlock. If using fingerprint, & any locker, you will be required to unlock with a password or pattern in Android 6 &above. This app lets us turn off the screen without tripping the lock system. I use this app to save battery & the power button is set to lock the phone. I only wish this app had a floating widget that was relocatable & remembered landscape & portrait locations. I will suggest it to dev.
