Kospin Jasa didirikan oleh beberapa pengusaha kecil dan menengah pada dekade 1970an. Tujuan pendirian Koperasi Simpan Pinjam Jasa adalah memberikan solusi dalam mengatasi kesulitan untuk mendapatkan pinjaman modal usaha mereka, karena umumnya bisnis mereka masih dikelola dengan cara tradisional.Untuk menanggulangi kesulitan mengenai modal tersebut, maka diadakan pertemuan pada tanggal 13 Desember 1973 di kediaman Bapak H.A. Djunaid (Alm) yang juga salah satu tokoh koperasi nasional. Pertemuan tersebut dihadiri oleh tokoh masyarakat dari tiga etnis, yaitu: pribumi, keturunan Cina dan keturunan Arab. Mereka semua sepakat untuk mendirikan koperasi yang menjalankan layanan simpan pinjam. Berdasarkan persetujuan dari semua pihak, koperasi ini diberi nama "JASA" dengan harapan akan mampu memberikan pelayanan dan manfaat bagi anggota, gerakan koperasi, masyarakat, dan pemerintah.
Sejak berdiri hingga sekarang, Kospin Jasa telah aktif mengikutsertakan semua pihak dan golongan tanpa memandang suku, ras dan agama. Hal ini semata-mata hanya untuk bersatu padu dalam hidup berdampingan untuk memecahkan masalah di bidang ekonomi secara bersama-sama dalam satu wadah koperasi. Itulah sebabnya Kospin Jasa menerima gelar sebagai "Koperasi Kesatuan Bangsa".
