Description

If button lights don't turn off, try:
1) Turning your phone's automatic brightness on or off
2) Tap to dim screen, then turn screen off and then on (using the button on your phone)

To find the settings menu on S5, just hold in the multitasking key (left soft key at bottom of phone).

This version turns off button backlights for most, but not all, phones. In particular, some new KitKat (Android 4.4) phones do not allow apps to turn off button backlights. If it doesn't work (with the tips above), just uninstall for a refund. Some phones disable my ability to turn the lights off, and unfortunately there's nothing I can do about that.

If the background is a gradient instead of just black, you need to: turn off "Force GPU rendering" in your phone's "Developer"
settings.

If you have a problem, email me!

This is a simple, retro-style night clock. It will display the time in big, bold letters (three fonts and any color to choose from), along with having a built-in alarm (or you can use your stock android alarm, it it's supported). Since the screen will stay on while the application is open (unless you manually turn it off), it is highly recommended that you keep your phone plugged in to charge otherwise it will drain the battery.

Some features include:
-Silence notifications
-Tap to dim screen to lowest possible setting
-Launches when put into the multimedia dock (also has flipped mode for use without a dock)
-Font and color settings (when choosing text color, drag your finger away from the center to change transparency)
-Built in alarm (or use stock Android alarm, if your phone supports it)
-Show next alarm on clock screen

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★This app works so well that I bought the paid for version just to support the developer. I use this alarm clock when I travel with my Samsung Note 3 and it has never let me down! I did not need to buy this because the free version works so well and does not nag you. That's part of why I wanted to buy this. Developers who write such excellent apps that work so well, like this one, deserve to get paid. This is an alarm clock and it works beautifully and has some nice customization options too. I recommend it.
5 ★I've been going crazy trying to shut off the lights on the back and menu capacitive buttons. Turns out Kit Kat makes it easy. Settings-display-touch keylight duration-always off. WHAT A RELIEF! Ned, great app-may I suggest that you add these instructions to your Google Play page?
1 ★Used it for years and the dev. never seemed to up date the app. I became very "quirky". I emailed the dev. and never got a reply. Finally removed the app (PRO version I paid for...) it had become a POS. Sorry, I cannot recommend this app, although Night Clock by NightDream is AMAZING ++10 A+++. It beats this APP hands down. Too bad Ned Fox didn't spent time responding to his users...I might have stayed on...
5 ★UPDATE Feb 2014: even though I use Timely to manage my many alarms across multiple devices this app's time display appeals because of its straight forward and simple display. It doesn't attempt silly fonts, animations nor constantly moving graphics. IT. DISPLAYS. TIME.... PERIOD. Keeps on top of bug reports and fixes errors promptly. Used painlessly on Moto Droid 1 & 4, Galaxy S4, Nexus 7 & 10.
4 ★This is a beautiful easy-to-read clock that doesn't disturb my sleep. The only thing that would make it better would be if the app were to release focus when an incoming call came in or when the Android alarm went off. (It can be tricky to answer a call or turn off the alarm while Night Clock Donate has focus.)
3 ★Samsung S5, Lollipop 5.0.1, buttons didn't go off. I clicked the refund button, then saw the suggestions about automatic brightness and power the screen off and on, so I bought it again and tried them. No luck, and now the refund button doesn't show up. Clock is otherwise very useful.
5 ★Does exactly what the name implies: makes a great nighttime clock. Allowed me to toss my old ugly clock radio. You do need to keep the phone plugged in but if you're using this at night as designed that's no problem.
5 ★Very clear night clock I can see without my glasses. Simple and clean on permissions. I use it with the new Bedside app to manage calls. Works fine on my LG G3 except please make colour picker appear larger on QHD screen.
3 ★I am unable to find any settings area for this clock. I am unable to have the clock rotate to the landscape mode. All settings are set on my Galaxy Note 5 correctly. This is the second time I have paid for this product and disappointed again.
3 ★I loved and used this app nightly for a few years - paid version. I rated it 5 stars, it was exactly what I was looking for. But, as others have stated, recent system updates have taken away the use of the settings button. And since the last app update was in 2014, I doubt a new update will be forthcoming. I have, sadly, moved on to a different app. Left 3 stars to thank for past service.
2 ★This was a great app for travel. Now all I can get is an unalterable red font, with no access to the menu to change ANYTHING. The button backlights still turn off, but when you do, it INCREASES the intensity of the display. I'd really like my blue color, and my alarm capabilities back please. DROID MAXX 4.4.4
5 ★Sadly Pii update has killed night clock on my Samsung J7 Prime 2. When it should go to dim mode, screen goes off completely. Loved this app for years and was my traveling companion. Paid for donate version as a thanks to the developer. Ned, if you can fix this, it woulbbe great.
