A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?
A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading). As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.
Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?
A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.
Q: What are Android App permissions?
A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★The games are great. But the apo continues to be unreliable and loses statistics for spelling bee. For the mini crossword, sometimes there is a multi hour delay before the score shows up on the leaderboard. I have version 4.49. Update - the problem has indeed been fixed and scores are updating fine. Past scores are restored. Uodate 7/21/23 Instability continues unfortunately. Scores on the crossword are delayed/lost again this week. I really love the app and hope this gets fixed systematically
2 ★Not ready for prime time. I've been using the app for years on a variety of devices. Rarely does activity, progress, completions, etc. sync correctly with my account on the NYT website. If keeping a tally of your gold star days is important to you then I strongly recommend ONLY solving the puzzle each day from a computer logged into your account on the website.
3 ★Great puzzles, bad app. If you're thinking you can use this app and work on puzzles on different devices/desktop, you're out of luck. Sometimes it syncs, often it doesn't. It's really irritating. Adding the bee was nice, but about half of the week it doesn't load that day's bee, it gets suck on yesterday. No amount of cache clearing, logging out/in, etc. solves any of these problems
2 ★7/14/21 edit: The Spelling Bee update made the interface slower, smaller, glitchier (letters don't get registered). The crossword game experience is smooth and intuitive. Love the archives that come with the subscription, it would be nice to have archives for the bonus games too. Spelling Bee is a great game, but it often loads yesterday's game, which sometimes goes away if I quit the app, but sometimes the points and word list will stay on the previous day and just the letters will refresh.
3 ★CAUTION: The app will not necessarily match the print or web experience. For example, the app (only the app) included an extra, spoiler-level, hint in yesterday's puzzle. Either (a) the Times doesn't believe that app users want the same puzzle and the same difficulty as print-only solvers, or (b) the app is managed by someone who doesn't understand crossword puzzlers. I'll edit this review if I get a reply from the Times to my blog comment. Ideally, this is understood to be an er
2 ★Love the app when it works. In the last week it suddenly stopped recognizing my subscription and locked me out. At suggestion of support i reinstalled, and it worked for a few days, but forgot my 3 year history of puzzle completions. then a few days later forgot my subscription again. Reinstalling fixes a few days at a time, but history goes away. Attempting to restore purchases says it works, but doesn't. I'm logged in. Subscription button flashes a page quickly but disappears.
1 ★I love the new york times crossword and spelling bee as well. The app simply doesn't work. Spelling bee only loads with today's puzzle about 5 percent of the time. Most of the time you get an old one, and it doesnt properly update your progress on different devices. Recently, the crossword puzzles have simply stopped working at all. I can atill see minis, but the daily and all the archives just dont load. You click them and the app just indefinitely displays the loading sign
3 ★Sudoku in particular has really bad issues with missed presses. Many times I've completely lost track of my progress and had to start over because somewhere along the way, the app failed to pick up a button press, and the small UI makes it very hard to notice. The lack of an Undo feature makes this even worse, and I end up having to resort to auto-candidate mode or checking the puzzle every time I fill in a number, which isn't fun. Other games have similar issues, but it's less severe in those.
3 ★The crossword is great. The app is easy to use. The other games are ok, but the spelling bee is sometimes reluctant to present a new puzzle and I have given up on a couple of occasions. Some of the spelling bee words are definitely obscure; and less obscure words are sometimes missing. Love the game stats (now that I have found them), The NYT is the only app I use every day. Thank-you!! Recently the games have become quite unstable and much less fun to play. Such a shame.
5 ★Flawless. I've been using this app for years. I can't remember it ever crashing. For subscribers, NYT releases their new puzzles on time, without fail, but with archives going back years, I almost always have one going. I have seen very rare puzzles with graphics the app didn't support (it'll tell you), and I've switched to the web version. I wish the Windows version still existed....
4 ★I love the crossword and the other games. Sudoku is a great addition, even with the "medium" level being pretty tough. But the game needs better testing. The latest update just destroys my phone battery - the phone gets hot while playing. It's my brain that should be overheating doing the crossword, not my phone's CPU. This is the latest in a long line of problematic updates. They always get fixed soon-ish, but they're things that really should get caught in testing.
4 ★Great puzzles, of course! The app, however, can be a bit vexing. When opening the app into a puzzle in progress, sometimes there is a significant delay (5 to 30 seconds) before the app is ready to accept taps and typing. I resolve this by closing and reopening the app...until that doesn't help any more, at which point I clear the cache...until that doesn't help...finally I clear cache and delete data, reopen the app and log in again, which works great for a while...wash, rinse, repeat.
