Description

Notification Helper for Ingress

This app reads notifications send by the Ingress Game and saves them to a list.

- Helps you to keep track of your favorite Portals without being drowned in Notification noise.

- Saves chat messages otherwise lost within a flood if attack notifications.

- Displayed notifications can be filtered for favorite events.

Can not keep track of events that happen while Ingress is being used.

Android 4.4 or newer because of necessary API requirements.

This app does not access any Ingress server or Intel data, it just collects the notifications received by the phone.

Basic Manual:
Enable notifications in Ingress, but set the Notification Sound to "silent"

Before the notification helper can start collecting notifications, you must "Activate" the notification helper in settings. You do this by allowing "Notification access" to the "Notification Helper"

Clicking on the star in "everything" tab or "attacks" tab will add the portal to the favorites, clicking on the star in "messages" tab will add the player to the favorites.

In the "Custom" tab you can enter just a part of the portal name or just a part of the address.
Example:
If you enter "Fountain" in the name field and leave address empty, all portals with a name that contains fountain will be selected.
If you enter 12345 in the address field, all portals from the 12345 zip code will be selected (and the ones with a street number of 12345)

The address of a portal can be found on the key details page.

Separate notification settings for favorite-, attack- and message events.

Known Issues/bugs:
I receive some reports of crashes on devices with the exposed framework, I have no idea why.
Setting notification sound to "none" actually sets the default notification sound

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★Nothing happens
5 ★Tired of your phone blowing up every time someone pings some portal you couldn't care less about? This app allows you to only be notified of attacks on specific portals, by specific players, or even by portals matching certain search criteria.
4 ★This app is awesome, but I wish I could export notifications to a CSV, I wish it would include notifications of destroyed assets, and I wish it would include notifications of neutralized portals. It is sad that it doesn't work on my KitKat phone. Even lacking those options, though, this app gives me the help in tracking information when I have been asleep or busy, as the Ingress app itself only lets me scroll back a short way. I am so grateful that I am going to seek ways to contribute (bug hunt & donation)
4 ★There's usually only a handful of portals that I really care to be notified about if they're under attack and this application has really helped me filter out the extra noise from Ingress. With the recent addition of "Custom" portals, adding new portals to my watch list is much easier, I just wish there were a better way of getting the address to a portal prior to it coming under attack. Being able to specify different tones for standard/favorite/messages/custom is also awesome. I have pretty much turned off notifications for Standard message, set the standard tone for Favorite, a custom message sound for Messages, and I'm toying around with using Custom as a High Alert notification, you know...the super important portals.
5 ★The cure for Ingress notification overload. I should remove one star for the "Join the Resistance" propaganda in the screenshots, but it's so useful I'll overlook that.
5 ★Great way to setup notifications for only certain portals you care to be notified on.
3 ★I would use it more if it has location settings, like only notify me if it's within 1k of me.
5 ★Useful
5 ★Rather than getting bombarded with countless amount of notifications by Ingress (either through Android Wear or my mobile device[s]), I've been able to successfully set up "Notification Helper" in a way to prioritize portals and communications. You can list favourites that will go outside of you "default" Ingress configurations if you've configured it to do so. I have it set up at the moment so that if any major anchors, guardians (mine or others) are attacked - it'll actually play a sound. Yes, this DOES require some configuration on the user's part. You have to make sure that it has the permissions to access your notifications, first and foremost. Secondly, you're going to have to wait until a notification comes in - then you can prioritize it based on your favourites/etc. I understand that it isn't intuitive for some; but, at the end of the day, its as functional as an app like this can actually be made to be without violating the TOS of Ingress.
5 ★Summarizes and sorts notifications nicely, that's what official app should have. Some improvements are still needed though: 1) LED control, user should be able to choose LED color and type of events for it; 2) ability to mute portals (so they are logged in separate tab/everything tab without any notification; 3) ability to add portals to favorite/muted by entering text mask, right now you have to wait until a portal gets attacked before you can mark it as favorite.
4 ★I'd love to have the ability to swipe away notifications to delete those you no longer need similar to gmail app.
5 ★Very cool aggregator, works on C12 like a charm :D
