Description
The SkyPro Status Tool is an application for use with the SkyPro GPS Receiver (XGPS150/XGPS160/XGPS500) from Dual Electronics.This app shows detailed information from the SkyPro GPS Receiver including:
- The GPS and GLONASS(XGPS160 only) satellites in view and their signal strength
- The current location, or an indication that the device is still waiting for satellite information
- The connection status of the GPS receiver
- The battery level and battery charging status of the GPS receiver
- The recorded route information such as date and number of data points (not supported XGPS150)
This app will also allow you to turn on/off automatic route recording, export the recorded routes stored in the internal memory of SkyPro GPS Receiver, and save the recorded routes from the receiver into the app.
This app includes the GPS helper app function which is required for an external Bluetooth GPS receiver to connect to Android devices. A third-party GPS helper application is no longer required when using this app.
Please make sure this app is running in the background at all times. This will allow all apps to use GPS information from the XGPS.
Android devices require “Allow mock location” to be enabled in order to receive GPS information from an external GPS device such as SkyPro.
To enable this feature, please follow the steps below:
Android version 2.0 to 4.1:
1. Go to the Settings menu
2. Find "Developer Options" under the Settings menu
3. Find and check “Allow mock locations.”
Android version 4.2 and later:
1. Go to the Settings menu, and find "About phone/About device".
2. Find “Build number" under "About phone/About device".
3. Tap “Build number” seven (7) times. A “You are now a developer!” message will appear.
4. Go back to the Settings menu.
5. Find the “Developer options” setting under the Settings menu.
6. Find the “Allow mock locations” under the “Developer options”
7. Check “Allow mock locations”
Note: Compatible ONLY with SkyPro GPS Receiver from Dual Electronics.

1 ★Clunky UI, doesn't save or share tracks. No firmware update. Crashes.
1 ★After importing tracks from the GPS to the app, there is no way you can use them. The klm files are no where in the filesystem. There is a share option that doesn't work.
1 ★App is free, and lousy. Stops/crashes from time to time. If they get the app to work, it would be great. I use the free Bluetooth GPS app instead -- less buggy, stays connected, and better coded. The Dual XGPS hardware, however, is brilliant (that's 5 stars); the app that comes with it (this one) should be labeled BETA or even ALPHA software. When they get it right, it'll probably be good. For now, stick to the other freeware like Bluetooth GPS.
1 ★The device is brilliant. This app is truly appalling. If I'd known that I couldn't download tracks, couldn't control the on-device logging, couldn't upgrade software on an Android device, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE DEVICE. Frankly, I feel that I have been mid-sold an expensive device and now have to decide whether to buy an iThing which I hate. If I'd known how broken the software was if have bought a different device.
1 ★Android version cannot update firmware, supposedly the ithing version can. App does not resize screen to suit host device, so text is microscopic on a tablet. Satellite display does not correspond with reality, SATs are in the wrong locations - although other software using the same data gets it right. App doesn't seem to close properly. JULY 2016 - Visited again one year after the preceding review. Absolutely no updates or improvements to this rubbish app.
1 ★Screens cannot be resized, all far too small on Nexus 7 and virtually unreadable on HTC smartphone. Satellite status screen almost useless; SVs correctly identified but positions wildly incorrect. No apparent ability to enable 'Mock GPS Provider' feature under 5.1 so app cannot act as 'helper' to interface XGPS160 with other software. Does not offer option for XGPS160 firmware upgrade, unlike Apple version. XGPS160 battery life indication erratic. Very heavy on tablet battery power. Often stops working when other apps invoked and will not re-link unless XGPS160 turned off and on again. All in all, poorly implemented and ultimately pointless -- Bluetooth GPS much more reliable and useful. Definitely not recommended for aviation use.
1 ★Hardware is acceptable but this software is useless. No firmware update , buggy, crashes frequently. Do not get this. Worthless. Better not install, or uninstall if you get it.
