Description
Zwembad De Waterdam is een unieke zwemvoorziening in Nederland. Door de combinatie van een binnen- en buitenbad behoort het tot één van de grootste openbare zwemgelegenheden in Nederland. De buitenbaden en het wedstrijd- en instructiebad zijn gebouwd in 1974. Het recreatiebad is in 1995 bijgebouwd waarbij eveneens een nieuwe horeca is aangebouwd.Vanaf 2012 is onze voorziening gerenoveerd en voldoet ruimschoots aan alle wet- en regelgeving.
Het doel van Zwembad De Waterdam is ‘de volksgezondheid en de volksveiligheid te bevorderen door de zwemkunst te verbreiden en daartoe een zo groot mogelijk deel van de bevolking in de gelegenheid te stellen van de zweminrichting gebruik te maken, en om zodoende te voorzien in de bestaande behoeften aan sport en recreatie’ (statuten zwembad de Waterdam 1972). Wij streven er dus naar om voor alle inwoners van Edam-Volendam e.o. betaalbare en hoog kwalitatieve zwemlessen, (begeleide) activiteiten en recreatieve voorzieningen aan te bieden binnen de financiële kaders die de gemeente stelt.
