Asal Usul Teks Dan Kandungan Doa dalam Manzhumah Asmaul HusnaAllah berfirman :
وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى فَادْعُوْاهُ بِهَا
Artinya: “Hanya milik Alloh Al-Asmaul Husna, maka berdo’alah kepada-Nya dengan menyebut Asma’-Nya itu” (QS Al-A’rof,[7] : 180)
Atas dorongan ayat tersebut, dan model doa Asmaul Husna serta Ismul A’zhom yang diajarkan Rosulullah, maka banyak para ulama yang menyusun teks-teks doa semacamnya, disertai dengan beberapa kaifiyah (cara berdoa) tertentu berdasarkan pengalaman spiritual mereka, baik yang disusun dalam bentuk uraian bebas (prosa) maupun nazhom atau manzhumah (syair). Dan Manzhumah Al-Asmaul Husna seperti yang tertulis di bawah ini merupakah salah satu dari sekian puluh manzhumah Asmaul Husna yang ada.
Mengenai penyusunnya, Manzhumah yang lebih dikenal dengan “Nailul Muna” ini tidak banyak terungkap. Ada yang mengatakan susunan seorang kiyai Termas. Dan ini tidak berlebihan, karena asal usul manzhumah ini memang dari sana. Namun menurut sumber lain yang dapat dipercaya, berasal dari informasi Gus Nukman Thohir (Pemangku Pondok Pesantren peninggalan mBah KH Mutamakkin di Kajen Pati Jawa Tengah) yang diterimanya langsung dari KH Ali Ma’shum (pemangku P.P. Al-Munawwir Krapyak Yogyakarta, periode 1968 - 1990), adalah disusun oleh Syaikh Yusuf bin Ismail An-Nabhaniy, seorang ulama besar abad 19 asal Mesir, alumnus Al-Azhar, penulis kitab “Syawahidul Haqq” dan “Sa’adatud Darain, fis Sholawati ‘ala Sayyidil Kaunain”.
Oleh alm. KH Ali Ma’shum, Manzhumah ini diterima ijazahnya dari ayahnya (KH Ma’shum, P.P. Al-Hidayah Lasem Jawa Tengah) dan dari gurunya (KH Dimyati, Pondok Pesantren Termas Pacitan), yang diterima dari Syaikh Mahfuzh at-Tirmasi al-Jawi (ulama besar Hijaz akhir abad 19, asal Termas), dan seterusnya bersambung pada penyusunnya, Syaikh Yusuf bin Ismail An-Nabhaniy.
Secara garis besar, Manzhumah berisi doa-doa tawassul bil-Asmail Husna, yang memuat berbagai macam permohonan, mulai dari mohon keselamatan agama, perlindungan dari gangguan musuh, sampai pada permohonan kebahagiaan dunia dan akhirat.
