4 ★I would give this game five stars but: Although I like the mini games it often says can't find server. It is slow sometimes dispite having a new telephone and space! It ripped me off as I won a prize then it denied me the prize It cut me off But I have been playing this game for quite some time. Maybe as a peace offering the makers would consider giving me a present. The pig sticker will do. Many thanks. Pigmonkey. 👋
2 ★So much bloatware. Takes a minute to load. Arbitrarily shuts and reloads game. Stop telling me when someone has made a play. I had that turned off, and WWF has taken that option away. Intentional bugs: 1. When I'm done with a solo challenge, the game goes back twice to try to get me to start another solo game. 2. When someone comes back in WWF, their name pops twice before I can do anything else. I don't care who's online, and I don't need reminders about solo games! Please fix.
1 ★I used to give this 4 stars because it was pretty fun despite the ads. Now, the ads are obnoxious! You get ads after just about every move you make, not to mention all the popups reminding you you're out of powerups, popups recommending that you subscribe for a monthly fee, and even a popup offering more coins if you sign in through Facebook. To all of that, I say: NO THANKS!!! I know all of this already, and I don't need to be constantly reminded or have to constantly watch ads in order to keep playing. This is no longer a fun game and their business model borders on harassment just to get you to shell out a few more dollars. Keep this up and you will lose me as a player. You can already forget about me ever giving you any of my money just to play this annoying game!
1 ★I played a minigame and it gave my opponent five turns and none to me, so I auto-lost. How is that even fair?! (I put words on the board several times, but rather than unlocking the play button, it just said "waiting" the whole time.) There IS a way to avoid ads--you have to play it on Facebook. You don't get lightning round and stuff, but if all you're here for is the main game (like me), it doesn't matter.
1 ★An ad between every single move and not even an option to remove them unless you want to subscribe for £7 per month. Bit exploitative. Wouldn't even recommend to a friend. I used to love words with friends, even though it always had an advert banner. Now, I'll just stick to something else.
3 ★I adore this game, but I'm really disappointed about the recent changes to the leaderboard. The average word score was the best indicator of skill level. The remaining total point count only indicates who the most obsessive players are. Not a great way to find decent competitors. Another concern is that it uses so much memory that it crashes my phone whenever I play for an extended period. My phone's from 2016, but still. Probably all the ads. Other simple apps with ads don't usually crash it.
2 ★Basically 'dodge the adverts' now. Extortionate 'premium' features shoved in your face every 5 seconds, and endless notifications until you turn them off. Core game as good as ever, it just has a load of rubbish layered on top of it. Edit 22/05/21: Seems I'm now getting advert notifications even though my preferences are turned off? Another reason to dislike this app.
1 ★I keep rewriting my review because honestly the problems with this game and Zynga are so many it's hard to pinpoint what will infuriate you at a certain moment. Zynga does not care about Ad or glitch complaints (read reviews). They took a game that united people and turned into this nightmare of Ads shoved down your throat, glitches gallore, and money hogging so apparent it'll make you feel like the fun this once was has been stolen from you. It's such a shame.
1 ★Way too many ads get in the way now that they added the ad banner at the top of the game screen, when you are zoomed in trying to play the ad at the top will zoom you back out to display......... You got it..... More ads. This game used to be fun before they ruined it with too many ads. There are so many ads on this game It should be renamed.... ADS WITH FRIENDS!! They have taken all the fun out of this game for me, very sad.
3 ★Have played this for a long time. Love the additional games. But the ads have gotten ridiculous! Having to wait 30 seconds between almost every move is nuts! You can't even do something else on your phone while you wait because the ad pauses and then resumes. Starting to waste too much time rather than filling those 5-10 mins when you're looking for something to pass time while waiting for something. Now waiting is built into the game which totally defeats the purpose of opening the game.
1 ★It pains me to do this, as I have many memories playing this game when I was younger. That being said... THE ADS ARE UNBEARABLE! The ads are consistently played after every word you play, causing an unfathomable amount of anger. It should not have to be where you are borderline irate at a game that's supposed to be relaxing! Please, at the very least make it so that the ads are shown every two words played, so that we're not cringing after every word we've played, expecting an ad...
4 ★Would be 5 stars EXCEPT for small glitches. Two finished games are stuck in unfinished mode currently. Practice games are limited to 3 at a time..why? No option to skip or stop instruction at start of every practice game. Optional instant search for opponent game match up limit is 3 and mine has been stuck at 3 for months but never matches anymore. Every time the game is opened, play is stalled because you are bombarded by prompts and can't navigate away from them.
