Growing up in Houston, Texas Collett worked hard through college, mostly in restaurants, but always wondered what life was like outside her big, beautiful state. Feeling restless, she sold everything she owned and moved to Costa Rica in 2002 where she lived on the Nicoya Peninsula for 2 years. After being involved in a serious motorcycle accident, she began physical therapy, weekly yoga classes and receiving regular massage. She discovered the benefits of massage were more than just feeling good. The scar tissue on her leg began to diminish so quickly and she knew it was something she wanted to incorporate into her life regularly. She came back to the United States and researched massage schools, Utah College of Massage Therapy was at the top of the list.
After studying massage in Salt Lake City for a year, Collett ventured to The Lowcountry to visit one of her brothers. The moment she saw the sunset over the marsh, she knew she was home. She packed up a truck and headed to Charleston in 2005. Collett began working at a downtown spa almost immediately and loved treating clients from athletes with injuries to those in need of a relaxing massage. After one year, her interest in skin care piqued when she began to have issues with her own skin. Collett studied at Trident Technical College in 2007 and became licensed by the end of the year.
Skin Help Studio opened in 2012 and she has treated many skin types and conditions, from acne and sensitive skin to those with concerns of aging with sun spots and wrinkles. Collett's goal is to help alleviate these issues with quality products and the knowledge of how to care for these issues with gentle but effective treatments. She loves getting to know her Mount Pleasant and Charleston neighbors by helping them learn about prevention, protection and reducing inflammation. And as a mother, she understands the time constrains for some. Collett keeps her home care regimen simple but effective.
Collett is committed to her own continued education of products, techniques and the latest peels. Collett attends conferences annually from our local Carolinas to regional conferences across the United States. As part of her experience, she's been honored to treat the Olympic speed skating team in 2005 with sports massage pre and post event.
