Nabi adalah seorang yang diberi wahyu oleh Allah untuk melanjutkan syari'at yang diemban oleh rasul sebelumnya. Berbeda dengan rasul yang membawa risalah (syari'at) baru.Al-Qur'an menyebut beberapa orang sebagai nabi. Nabi pertama adalah Adam, sedangkan nabi sekaligus rasul terakhir ialah Nabi Muhammad. Percaya kepada para nabi dan para rasul merupakan salah satu Rukun Iman dalam Islam.
Dalam Islam terdapat banyak nabi, tetapi yang harus diketahui hanya 25 nabi dan 4 di antaranya adalah penerima Kitab suci:
Musa (Taurat),
Daud (Zabur),
Isa (Injil),
Muhammad (Al-Quran).
Dari semua rasul, Muhammad sebagai 'Nabi Penutup' yang mendapat gelar resmi di dalam Al-Qur'an Rasulullah adalah satu-satunya yang kewajibannya meliputi umat dan wilayah seluruh alam semesta 'Rahmatan lil Alamin'.
