「南田石、回娘家」！台東縣大武鄉和達仁鄉南田海邊，是南田石的產地，南田石擁有豐富的圖案，成為雅石收藏者的最愛，這次比賽形容為南田石回娘家一點也不為過。參賽的石頭分為具象、形態、抽象、多品及玫瑰石研磨五組，於十三日下午起展開評分，其中具象、研磨一組七名評審，形態、抽象、多品組另七名評審，評審時按參賽數量十五粒評出一金、二銀、三銅比例，第一道即經評審進行初審的入選，入選石頭再區分出名次。
這些冰冷的石頭，有的浮現出「玉樹臨風」的圖案，意境深遠；有的則是出現阿拉伯數字「2 和八」，讓人嘆為觀止。在造形上，有的像甲蟲，宛如鐵甲武士；有的像男女生殖器官般絕配。這些原本在海邊或是荒野上不起眼的石頭，只要用心去感受，它也會充滿了生命力。
