La lengua malecu (malécu lhaíca), denominada tradicionalmente guatuso, se habla en Costa Rica, en el cantón de Guatuso, provincia de Alajuela, en tres localidades conocidas como palenques: Margarita, El Sol y Tonjibe. Esta aplicación ha sido creada con la idea de funcionar como un recurso didáctico para las personas de la comunidad malecu. Cada letra del alfabeto de la lengua malecu se ejemplifica con una o más palabras presentadas de forma escrita y en audio, esto con el fin de aprender a asociar la escritura de las palabras con cómo se pronuncian en este idioma.
