L’aménagement de ce parcours s’inscrit dans une démarche globale de redynamisation du centre-ville, où les secteurs du commerce traditionnel (Portalet, Massillon, République, etc.) constituent le point de départ de ce circuit.Le Parcours des Arts a fait l’objet d’une distinction : le 1er prix du concours national d’art urbain 2018.
L’aménagement de la place Saint-Paul et du Lavoir a fait l’objet du Ruban du Patrimoine.
Chaque année, le Parcours des arts est le cadre d’un événement festif « Le parcours des arts en fête » qui se déroule au mois de juin.
