Der WestfalenSport ist das offizielle Verbandsjournal des Fußball- und Leichtathletik-Verbandes Westfalen (FLVW) und erscheint sechsmal pro Jahr. Das Magazin behandelt Menschen und Themen aus dem westfälischen Sport abseits der klassischen 1:0-Berichterstattung.Der WestfalenSport widmet sich pro Ausgabe einem besonderen Themenschwerpunkt, der von möglichst vielen Seiten und facettenreich beleuchtet wird. Beispiel: Thema Integration. Was können Vereine tun, um Flüchtlinge möglichst schnell in ihrer Fußballmannschaft zu integrieren? Wie arbeiten engagierte Leichtathletik-Vereine wie die DJK Bokel und die LG Burg Wiedenbrück mit Flüchtlingen? Wie unterstützen Verbände die Integrationsarbeit ihrer Mitgliedsvereine? – Diese Ende 2015 veröffentlichten Geschichten sollen dabei nicht nur informieren oder unterhalten, sondern auch anderen Vereinen als Inspiration und Vorbild im Sinne einer „Best Practice“ (Erfolgsmethode) dienen.
Neben den redaktionellen Themenschwerpunkten kommen auch Hintergrundgeschichten von Vereinen oder engagierten Vereinsmenschen und -sportlern nicht zu kurz. Hochkarätige Gastkommentare von EU-Parlamentspräsident Martin Schulz, Dr. Reinhard Rauball, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge oder Gerald Asamoah neben Geschichten von der Leichtathletik- und Fußballbasis zeichnen zudem die Vielfältigkeit des WestfalenSport aus.
