• The Dettol Banega Swachh India Project of Hygiene Education in align with WASH concepts in Schools has commenced in 2015 with a view to drive the change among children, teachers, community and system across three states namely Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Tamilnadu. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools plays a significant role in determining the health of children, attendance, dropout rate, and learning outcomes. The provision of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in school secures a healthy school environment and protects children from illness and exclusion. It is a first step towards a healthy physical learning environment, benefiting both learning and health. Children who are healthy and well-nourished can fully participate in school and get the most from the education being imparted.

• HYGIENE EDUCATION IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS (HEPS) is a significant step towards strengthening the efforts of Government of India (GoI) and State Government of Andhra Pradesh in achieving the Goal No. 6 of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) which commits to "Ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all" and the ambitious indicator to be fulfilled by 2030.

• HEPS also closely relates to the spirit of Swachh Bharat - Swachh Vidyalaya initiative which lays emphasis on every school having essential interventions around human and technical aspects of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

• Collective Good Foundation (CGF) is implementing the program on Hygiene Education Program in primary schools as part of Dettol Banega Swachh India Project in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

• A total of 2113 schools covering nearly 160,000 students were reached during 2018-19 systematically and intensively. The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) was instituted in 2016 - 17 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene practices in Schools. The explicit purpose of the awards is to Honor schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign.

• As part of program it has been decided to recognize best schools through an assessment with the help of a mobile application where the questions are framed in the areas of Water , Sanitation & Hygiene facilities in schools and behavioral change of students which each school to attempt and compete for best school awards.
