Aussie Bird Count APK Download for Android

Description

BirdLife Australia has created the Aussie Backyard Bird Count app for you to take part in Australia’s first nationwide bird survey. For one week each year near the end of October, as part of National Bird Week, join thousands of people as they get to know their local birds and help us discover how our birds are getting on. It only takes 20 minutes in your backyard, neighbourhood park, or favourite green patch to be a part of this exciting event.

All you have to do is sign-up with your name and email address, select your location on the map, and start counting. If you need help identifying birds, use the handy built-in Field Guide. While there are around 800 species of birds in Australia, the Field Guide holds just under 400 species. Try to be as general as possible when searching or typing in bird names to get the best results.

Don’t go away when the Bird Count has finished. You can use the Field Guide year round to learn more about your feathered friends.

5 ★I love that we can participate in such a great event!

3 ★Added my list, my time counted down. At time zero o couldn't seem to do anything else. Nothing happened when I touched any button. Was my list submitted? No idea. Also couldn't access the 'attached bird list'

3 ★The app worked perfectly during the count period, but now it can't access the internet to load the location map. What has happened? The app encouraged me to continue counting but it's now impossible to do that.

4 ★What a fun way to contribute to the research! It does need time to find your location so you need to have your GPS on at least 5mins or more before starting the birdcount. Not sure if you need to also have WiFi access to see map with location. (Nexus 7 2013)

5 ★An app that takes you through 20 minutes of birdwatching. Love it

3 ★The timer doesn't seem to work properly. My 20 minutes went for about an hour. I think the timer stops when the phone goes to sleep. Also can't locate where I am. But the bird list is very user friendly. Hopefully the bugs will be ironed out for next year

2 ★An extra star for sterling intentions. All else unworkable. Please include comprehensive conventional guide.

3 ★It's a great idea. But the thumbnails are very small and so it's difficult to correctly identify a bird unless you already know what it is. This makes it less interesting for kids. Also : why no seagulls?!

3 ★It's an interesting app. But I looked what has been submited for my area and there are birds listed that you don't find in NSW let alone this area. People aren't very good at identifying birds.

2 ★Can't browse bird details without being in survey or results, and clicking on a species doesn't show me details.

5 ★Great app. It would be good if you could get a photo of a bird when you search for it by species name, before you have to add it to your list. A social networking plug-in that allowed you to share your sightings might also be a neat feature. :)
