1 ★Having problems getting the Android Unlock V3 to install on Version 3.1.6.9375 Google Play have taken the money but the unlock has not downloaded or installed despite logging in and out several times. Will be asking for a refund if Customer Service can't resolve this issue and will certainly not be interested in using a limited version of Zenbeats. Customer service suggest reaching out to them via Backstage but there is no provision for software support there. Very poor service.
1 ★confusing interface, and it doesn't really work well in the Samsung Dex mode with the external screen, just doesn't scale up and turns Into a mess...you'd think that an app which is multiplatform by nature wouldn't have such as issue...
3 ★UPDATE:IT SLOWS ON THE DESKTOP AS WELL MY WHOLE COMPUTER IS SLUGGISH NOW WHENEVER I PLAY ON THE DAW APP AND MY MUSIC LIBRARY IS SLUGGISH ALSO GIVE PEOPLE THE OPTION TO WORK ON THE BROWSER SO IT DON'T TAKE UP SO MUCH SPACE .IIt takes up a lot of storage space in the phone and when I tried to record some instruments in the application it would slow down sluggish with a lot of static noise behind the song I been using since 2019 2020 era
1 ★The interface is so difficult that we cant understand what to do with things. I started recoding but loop automatically started which I don't want, how to stop loop and directly recording music we play on piano? Also the first screen popup with purchase banner which is so frustrating. If the app is difficult to use why should we waste money!
5 ★I have only used the lite version and still I think it's a great app! the piano roll makes it easy to compose drum and instrument loops/ one shots.
1 ★Fell at the first hurdle: can't log in to my Roland account. Maybe login is just broken at the moment, maybe it's due to the + (plus) character in the email address I registered with triggering some over-zealous (and incorrect) email address validation 🤷🏻♂️
1 ★Can't find any way to contact support anywhere. Since last update on Windows every time I record a song and save it some of the vocal layers just appear empty when reopening the songs. They are there in the Audio files folder of the Song but Zenbeats just doesn't load them anymore. Also when undoing changes loads of times the audio just dissapears nowhere to be found again. This is getting really annoying and unworkable. Will edit my review when this gets fixed. I've been using Zenbeats (previously Stagelight) for years now and it's a huge bummer it's starting to become an unworkable app.
4 ★Unusable on my phone (OnePlus 6, 6.28" 2280x1080px, 401ppi screen) The UI elements are far too small, even with all the scaling options dialed up at max. Even if I could read the ~1mm high text the buttons (which are maybe 3mm high) are too small to reliably hit with a finger). Had high hopes that Roland may have fixed this fundamental issue that killed Stagelight for me, but no. IMO this should be marketed as for TABLET ONLY as it is a non-starter on phone. :-( 11/2020 Update : A year later I've come back to give it another try, and things are very much improved! The scaling factor can now be ramped up to a level that makes it usable on a hi-ppi phone screen. Time now to get that v2 unlock and see how capable as a DAW-in-your-pocket Zenbeats really is. Thanks Roland - keep up the good work.
4 ★It's a really capable app for making music. It's a easy and intuitive layout, across platforms. Even without full unlock it's enough to work with, sometimes less is more. Here and there are a couple small bugs. I would suggest more colors for the tracks, there are green, purple and I have like 4 shades of blue, which looks like the same. Hope u add more colors to visibly differentiate between the tracks. I would love to see the app supporting midi controllers/devices as well. Then 5 stars.
3 ★Having a small annoying issue where I am unable to change the midi learn properties, they all default to "pot (knob, slider)" once I close the properties window. Related problem is that I am unable to assign buttons on my controller (oxygen pro mini) with the midi learn function unless they are sending press and release cc values (it seems that I cannot assign such values to the play, stop, rec buttons for example). Would love to try using the app more if these issues were fixed, thanks.
5 ★Updated: I had noted the Share to Google Drive was not working. Perhaps it took a while for Google to update preferences, but later it worked. I still believe it would be beneficial if a mix was saved to a public folder, having to upload & download just to add the mix to a player or use for a video is inconvenient. That aside I'm impressed with the new version, it's fairly comprehensive for a mobile based DAW. The UI takes some getting used to as there are so many features. Well done Roland!
3 ★I decided to update ny review as it seems the problem I was experiencing is not a bad layout. The problem is the settings menu is not sensitive enough and the touch area is too small, about one in 10 times I hold the track header the menu pops up, which makes it impossible to find if your not sure where it is. A onboard tutorial would make the app much more friendly. Always expect the best from roland, service included 👍
