Download the Du Chinese app and start reading Chinese today!

Beginner Chinese learners can start from ni hao and work their way up through our beginner courses that will take them through HSK 1 and HSK 2. Start off with pinyin and hide it when you’re ready to learn traditional or simplified characters.

Intermediate Chinese learners (HSK 3 and HSK 4) can begin reading more elaborate stories while learning to use Mandarin Chinese grammar in context. Hide pinyin or use difficult words only to show pinyin for all words above your level.

Advanced Chinese learners (HSK 5 and HSK 6) will enjoy our short stories adapted from Chinese folktales and our collections on the Tang Dynasty, Han Dynasty, and more! Our app also covers topics like everyday life in China, funny stories, business Mandarin, latest trends in China, and Chinese history.

Read Chinese at your Level:
Whether it’s our beginner Chinese courses about life in China, advanced Chinese stories about Chinese history, or snippets of daily conversation, you can find material from HSK 1-6 to practice reading Chinese! When you stumble on a word you can check our Chinese dictionary with translations or jump to Pleco.

Save Time:
The Du Chinese app offers a built-in dictionary, pinyin, translations, and professional audio. Take control of your learning experience with our integrations with popular apps like Pleco, Skritter, and Hack Chinese.

Improve Your Tones:
Mastering tones can be very difficult, especially when you’re trying to mimic a robot! That’s why we have professional recordings by native speakers for every lesson. So when you say hello in Mandarin, people will understand your 你好.

Expand Your Vocabulary:
By learning Mandarin Chinese as you read, you’ll pick up on the most useful words naturally. As you read, save new words and practice them later to build your vocabulary. Our interactive flashcards make it easy or sync them with Skritter or Hack Chinese.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★Great app for reading. The levels align well with what is needed for Chinese learners. Audio of each text is also extremely helpful.
5 ★Great app. It's really easy and convenient to use, content for all levels of Chinese is available including translations to English. The word by word translation and HSK level indicator is very helpful. While a few free texts are available, you'll need to purchase a subscription for more. There's a generous student discount (50%) available, make sure to ask for it if you're a student!
5 ★Improved my listening and reading skills at the same time. The contents are also modern and interesting. So far, this is the best app I have known up to now in terms of learning these two skills. The optional display of pinyin, the translation at the top and reading sentences in natural tones in addition to customizable speeds are all the things I've loved about this app and nothing more I can ask for.
5 ★This app is the best 👍💯 to learn 🇨🇳. Reading book is at times boring, where they talk about boring things, but this app provides very fun stories worth of being read! Warmest regards from the Chechen Republic 车臣共和国
5 ★This app deserves millions of downloads. I can't thank enough for developing this app. This app is the best not only to learn Chinese, but the culture, history, slangs, chinese stories and more. All the articles are interesting and we can read and listen to any article for free up to two weeks after it is published. If we're fast, we can read almost all the articles for free. I would buy the subscription if I had money, not only to read old articles and stories but to thank them. Love it ❤
5 ★I enjoy this app very much. I'm not a beginner student and I find the short stories very useful in teaching me how to form sentences better rather than just learning words. Usually I watch Chinese tv series with subtitles to learn a bit here and there, but you can't save the new words when watching TV. Thank you to the developers for creating these contents:')
4 ★It is a terrific learning tool. The options available help to pick out words that you want to continue to study. Best app I've found for keeping up on my language skill. The only other improvement I could recommend is to add the different language sets like casual and business. Most of the lessons are structured around casual conversations. But they are awesome.
5 ★This app is great for practice. A couples reviews complain the lessons are too short, but the stories are pretty long. They have stuff to practice for all levels, so even a beginner can find something to practice reading with. Only downside is the price, but every lesson/story IS read by a human, and the app is very high quality. You do get what you pay for in that respect.
4 ★This is a decent app for reading Chinese. I've used a few others but I just find myself using this app more. The articles are more interesting and I like that I can translate words I don't know by holding a finger on the word. The advanced and master levels aren't really that high level, though. Also, I would like more free articles.
5 ★Although you need premium for the most part, you can always check out new releases as long as you are few days early for free. This is a great system and I highly recommend you guys to give it a shot! It will help with Chinese immensely. There are all sorts of articles and stories and they have different levels. The hardest levels are like regular Chinese articles that you read on the Chinese newspapers and the easy ones are for lower levels. Each article also has its own pinyin and voice rec.
4 ★pretty good actually. while it's technically a reading app, I use it mostly for listening practice. multiple speeds listening is nice to have, although it sounds a little metallic on high speed. The texts are generally not uninteresting. A downside is that I haven't found a way yet to download the saved vocabulary to use in other vocab apps. and some features seem to not be available in the web version. overall I'd say it's worth the money. at least for my needs
4 ★There's a bug on the latest version of the app where changing the audio speed is no longer working-- when I press to use 1.5x, audio stops working completely. Besides the bug, Du Chinese is one of my favorite learning resources- the articles expose me to a lot of useful words and grammar patterns. Especially enjoying the longer stories with multiple parts. If it weren't for that recent bug, this would be a 5 star app! Update: can work around bug using regular headphones instead of Bluetooth.
