Description

This app is not updated anymore, at least not until I will get a new phone.

Two graphics editors, ported from PC. You will need mouse, stylus, or 10” screen to use them.

This app requires 1 Gb device storage (1.8 Gb during installation), and cannot be moved to SD card.

GIMP is an advanced picture editor, suitable for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

Inkscape is a vector graphics editor, which has everything needed to create professional-quality computer art.

They both support stylus pressure. In Inkscape, you will need to enable Android touchscreen in File → Input Devices (see screenshots).

For best results, also enable Windows → Single Window Mode in GIMP.

Press Back key to show keyboard.

To send right mouse click - touch screen with two fingers, or press a button on your stylus.

To send middle mouse click - touch screen with three fingers, this will drag/scroll image in Gimp.

If you have Menu key, you can use it to undo last action.

If Open or Save dialog is frozen - open the keyboard using Back key, and press Enter or Esc key, you have to do that only once. If your keyboard does not have Esc key - install Hacker's Keyboard.

Finger hover is supported. If you have Galaxy S4/S5 or Note 3/4, enable AirView in system settings to use it.

To make all buttons bigger, and make it draw faster, select smaller display resolution during app start.

If you have Error -24 when installing this app - install this version (it's the same app with different name):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libsdl-android/files/apk/XServer-XSDL/GIMP-Inkscape-zz-2.8.14.25.apk

Do not uninstall this app if you have Android 4.4 or older - you will not be able to install it again, because of a bug in Android, which was fixed in Android 5.0.
Clear app data instead to save space - long-press app icon in drawer, drag it to App Info icon, and select Clear data.

To add fonts, copy them to directory Android/data/org.gimp.inkscape/files/gimp/fonts on your SD card.

To disable gyroscope, tap Change device config during app start, select Mouse emulation → Advanced → Gyroscope.

To set 24bpp color depth or portrait screen orientation, go to Change device config → Video.

To use dark color theme - double-click Root terminal icon on desktop, and type commands:

apt-get update

apt-get install murrine-themes

Confirm installation, then open Menu → Settings → Appearance, and select NOX theme.

Installing Debian packages with apt-get or dpkg does not work on Android 6.0 Marshmallow or newer.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

3 ★I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab a tablet. It has a 9.7 inch screen and just enough memory for the app to be installed. Unfortunately, my computer is a little underpowered. I had a hard time working the app on this tablet. If you have something more powerful than my system then I'd give it a whirl. Because the problem is on my end, this app doesn't deserve less than the three-star.
1 ★Obviously not for galaxy tab-After start up it says the version is too old and to update!!!!--even though it says up to date. No option to update while app was open, just a black screen with a X cursor :&
3 ★Works as well as you would expect for a full screen application on a miniature device. If I knew more people who know gimp then I would delight in showing them this, but it is very hard to use. I would love a port but an emulation will always be slow and awkward.
3 ★This app tries hard to keep up, but has many short comings. Most importantly of all is it can't be put on my MicroSD card. This is a huge flaw in a wonderful program. I use G.I.M.P. on my PC all the time and though it is on android there are still certain things that are expected. Thank you for the hard work you put into making this app, but the MicroSD issue really needs to be fixed. Glad you stayed the install requirements. Ran into this before and it was a real P.I.A. trying to install it.
1 ★Useless and wasteful app for android device. Don't waste your data hoping for the love of pc version one. The app doesn't works.
4 ★Works pretty well, and loads up quickly. This is really the only way to perform more complicated edits on pictures on the mobile. Could use some documentation for the controls, though.
3 ★I really want to use this, but its too slow for my use, and my tablet is no light weight. I hope speed improves in the future.
5 ★It works great on my Galaxy Note4 and whenever I wasn't sure how to do something within the app I emailed the developer and he was very quick to respond and friendly. You are even able to download extension packs (use the Linux version) like FX Foundry and they work great. The app needs a little work but it is great. Thank you for all your hard work.
2 ★Sometimes it is great, simetimes it crashes repeatedly, especially when exporting :( ok so i formatted my tablet and reinstalled and the internal crashes are still happening. Now have spent over 4 hours on one simple edit of a photo because the export to another format type(aka one that actually works outside of gimp) chrashes within the emulator. Please fix, I love gimp but this is impossible.
1 ★It installed OK on my hudl but I found it unusable. The screen is just too small for accuracy.
1 ★Does not work, gives mouse pointer on blank screen. No options what so ever. Just downloaded the desktop version and so far so good.
5 ★Works great for me on my Galaxy S2 8 inch. I did have a lot of trouble at first but then reading the documentation and using a mouse ( a stylus was an exercise in futility for me) I was able to work on it without issue. The biggest obstacle is finding the right screen resolution for your device. I have mostly used Inkscape. It is important to read all the documentation. One issue I do have is that it is a little laggy on my tablet but is very workable. I have updated to the dark theme as shown in the documentation and that worked great as well. I see the instructions for adding fonts but I need to experiment with adding brushes if that is possible. If anyone has successfully added brushes to this please mention how in the comments. In all I am thrilled to have this on my tablet but it did take a little work (and frustration) at first. Thanks
