Musa Keys is the easiest way to enter Musa text into a phone or computer. It’s available for Android and (soon) iOS. On your phone, open it and let it pass into the background.
When you receive Musa text in a message on your phone, it will normally show as “tofu”. To read it, select the message and copy it to the clipboard, then just turn your phone sideways to open Musa Keys. You will see the message, with Musa text correctly displayed, and you’ll be able to respond to it using the Musa keyboard at right.
To mix in text from another alphabet, just turn the phone back upright to get your normal
keyboard – you can go back and forth all you want. When you’re finished, press Done to load your reply into the clipboard, then just paste the reply back into your messaging app.
To enter Musa into your computer, you need a small “agent” program. The agent is available for Windows, Linux and (soon) Mac. Both the computer and the phone need access to the same WiFi network, and you’ll need to have a Musa font installed on your computer to see the letters.
The Musa letters you type go directly into whatever program you’re using: a word processor, an email program, a website, whatever – just as if they’d been typed on your hardware keyboard. While it is connected, you can continue to use your hardware keyboard to enter non-Musa text, and of course your mouse continues to function. selects the top of the letter; the second selects from among the letters with that top. The
keyboard includes letters, punctuation and numbers.
