Avefy permite aprender y practicar la habilidad en la identificación de las aves por los sonidos que emiten.A partir de una amplia posibilidad de ambientes distintos en pinares, encinares, ciudades, matorrales y muchos más se practica jugando con las aves que se pueden encontrar en cada uno de ellos.
Hay cuatro niveles de dificultad que se diferencian por el número de especies de aves que hay que identificar y su actividad de canto solapada en el tiempo. Los aciertos y fallos puntúan diferente también en cada nivel. Se puede practicar individualmente o competir con otros jugadores.
Para todas las especies de aves que aparecen hay disponible una tarjeta con su imagen e información sobre su distribución en España y tendencia poblacional, así como la descripción de su canto.
Los nombres de las aves están disponibles en castellano, catalán, gallego, inglés, portugués y latín.
Cada partida dura 5 minutos, en ese periodo habrá un listado de especies diferentes cada 20 segundos que cambiarán si se van identificando. Las que no se identifican al cabo de 20 segundos se consideran fallos.
