Description
This is the official U.S. Department of Justice national sex offender search app. This app is funded through a grant from the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering and Tracking (“SMART”), Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. SMART is responsible for The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), a public safety resource that provides the public with free access to sex offender data nationwide. This application is designed to provide additional access to NSOPW.This app provides users with information about registered sex offenders that have residential, employment, or school addresses that are within a close proximity of the mobile device running the app. Searches can be conducted nationally using a ¼ mile, ½ mile, or 1 mile radius or by offender name. The initial search will be performed based upon the location of the mobile device, but searches can be run from other locations by tapping those locations on the map. In the event that the registering jurisdiction (state, territory, Indian tribe, or District of Columbia) for the user’s area does not allow searching by geographic coordinates for registered sex offender addresses, a zip code search will be used to find matching offenders and the results can be viewed by tapping the status message at the top of the app. NSOPW is actively working with all jurisdictions to allow searching by geographic coordinates and will modify the app searching capabilities as improvements become available.
Please be aware that when you tap the “More Information” button when viewing the details of a matching record you will be directed to the details about the particular registered sex offender on the registering jurisdiction’s public sex offender website. These websites are outside of NSOPW’s control and may not be mobile device friendly.
The purpose of this app is solely to provide users with the ability to search for registered sex offender by location and name. If you would like sexual abuse education and prevention information or have questions about sex offender registration in general please visit NSOPW at nsopw.gov.

1 ★This would be great if it was updated. It only found 1 sex offender in my neighborhood which I know is erroneous. I did a search by name for a violent pedophile that was released from state hospital and lives a few blocks from me as of Jan 25th (this was HUGE local news) and it said there were no results. Totally wrong.
1 ★Every area I tried only popped up, "area is not mapped" then popped up a list of names, not even with pics. I don't need to know their names, I need to know if they leave near where my daughter lives & schools. Mostly because I've heard that there's bus stops in front of a house of a supposed child molester.
1 ★Only let's you search with in one mile from you location. It would be nice if you could move the map around and zoom in and out of the map and find offenders that way too. And also to enter an address or zip code. Alerts of when a sex offender moves into your zipcode would be nice too. But yes I know, that's too much to ask. Silly me!
3 ★Other apps are a rip off. This one is a little tricky to use though. You have to tap on the map to get results. In fact I had to tap all around my house and found a few results within a quarter mile of me. However it took several taps and the results were different for different searches within a few blocks. Best to just tap on each block separately to find anything.
1 ★Another failed application. No search engine for specific locations. Can't scroll over other cities. No red or green icons. Can't type in an address. My sister recommended I research sex offenders before purchasing a home. Unfortunately this application doesn't work, but it was a great idea.
1 ★Only had one offender listed for my entire state, which is false. Longest it would allow me to search is 1 mile.
1 ★Would like to see it on a map, not a list of names x miles from the center of a zip code. Basically useless.
5 ★I don't see anything wrong with the app other then the distance would be nice to search within 5 miles, I'm just happy you can move around the map and see where they live as far as quick updates on offenders moving in near by I hope they can fix that but as far as the rest don't be so picky put in some effort and move that little icon out further if you want to see more the app works so no complaints here
4 ★305 Sunset Road Cozad NE has 2 sex offenders living there, not just one. This app was incredibly helpful. I love that it connects directly to the website.
5 ★Its not hard to use guys. And it is valid and up to date. Check with yourlocal PD if as a test. I did. Check the search it wil expand to a mile.Scroll the map it will go much much further. Yes, maybe trucky in thatthere arent really instructions you have to play with it. Pinch the the mapin and out. Scroll...again just play. It works just fine.
5 ★Great for knowing your area and if you buy a new house you can be more aware of who lives near by and if they are offenders. It's easy to use and if the states would update their info this would help users.
