2 ★Yahoo Finance app used to work great. However, after adding more junk and more advertising, the app is slow, freezes and often displays inaccurate information. I have re-installed this app several times but I think there is too much garbage on this app now to function properly. Unwanted news feeds, advertising and on and on. I get that they want to make money but if everyone stops using what has become a frustrating app, it will be hard to sell advertising. Maybe less is more in the long run.
4 ★This app provides technical analysis in stocks, options, futures and forex in great details with advanced charts including sophisticated studies. News is packed with ads, I do understand that, they must have ad revenue, my problem is the way it's mixed with the real news, you need to watch for that tiny little two letter word "Ad" easily overlooked and some ads have sticky application, makes it hard to get back to real news. For that reason, I give this app 4 stars. It's an impressive app.
4 ★Building lists on the app is a great alternative to having your actual finances out in the open in this digital age. Sometimes financials or other details can be dated or off a little. Ads are borders or occasionally stories or "news" that pops up but they become easily recognized. With respect to the quality of the app, it's fantastic. Easy to see, read and navigate. It's the first app I open every weekday morning. Like anything else in life, the more you put into it, the more you get out.
2 ★The good: Widget, and Watchlist upgrades. The bad: all new upgrades. The upgrade has made the charts unusable. Why does Yahoo keep making these nonsensical updates to this App. Just leave it alone. It was working fine 3 months ago. Now can't see the price on the charts and impossible to view today's price movement on the chart. After hitting back the app takes you to the top of the list each time. Some of us have long lists this new feature is a nightmare.
4 ★Generally, an easy app to create and follow a list of stocks. My gripe is the watchlist used to be easier to read. Now, there is a tiny 1 day chart inserted between symbol and current price/change that is a waste of space and reduced the font size of the stock symbol, current price, and change. If I want to see the chart, I'll click on the symbol and view it... I've searched everywhere for how to remove that useless chart on the watchlist page with no luck. Android.
4 ★Did the latest update take away the option to see the table/chart like the main site? Data like total gain, share cost, #of shares, etc....I don't see the button at the bottom right of the list anymore....not happy. the "details view" button seems to be gone in the new version. That view shows all the details of my portfolio. Where is it? I see it now...there's not a specific button...you touch the name of the portfolio.
1 ★While this app is great while it's working properly, the frustration is I haven't gone 2 weeks where there's not one or more issues. For example, today the app doesn't show the Dow, S&P, ect. on the top of the page. It's blank! Additionally, the dates on my portfolios are random, old dates. Also, while normally "real time" is real time, today it's all delayed info. Finally, every time they do an "update" there are many days of issues.
2 ★I started out really liking the app & I still used it every day even though it became increasingly hard to get the info I wanted. However, today all I got was an error message after numerous attempts to open and get to my portfolio. Alas, I now have to give the yahoo finance app 2 stars, not 1 just bc there maybe a chance they go back to the original app from when I started. If that happens I may try them again...here's hoping.
1 ★Data and information are quality and up to date but it's hard to know that because the app is almost unusable. It's slow, glitchy and when scrolling it starts to slow and then eventually just stops and you cannot scroll up or down and have to force close and restart. In addition, a completely separate scroll problem is in conversations when scrolling down it will work but when trying to scroll back up to reread something it just closes the conversation and there is no scroll up. Uggh. Fix this!!
4 ★Since switching over from IOS, I needed an app to quickly view how the market is doing. This App does a reasonably good job. I major annoyance is that it always defaults to detailed view vs 'basic' view. When I just want a quick look at the market, I don't what to add shares and price, etc. I just want if it's up or down today, and by what percentage.
1 ★On a regular basis the App becomes more and more watered down in an apparent attempt to shift users to the pay version. I expect people like myself to move to other platforms that provide an adequate amount of basic information. App speed and reliability has never been a problem. Information/data disappearing is the point of the review and the point still stands.
2 ★I mads a terrible mistake updating this app. Information you get now is much more limited. I guess they want you to pay. I loved it before, could consult it quickly several times a day. Charts were great. Now the max is 5 years, versus all years before. Home page shows a little chart for each stock I'm not remotely interested in. Looking for a substitute, and there aren't many. But I'll keep searching.
