5 ★This app is amazing. Whether your goal is solving math fast (which even helps me as a college student), being a good writer (and quick at that too. Also covers many areas in writing), having better analytical skills, speed reading, speak better, or "keeping your brain snappy" on important areas, this app is for you. I also really like the statistics that it gives for each of the areas you're training, the tips it gives you, and the personalized routine. On top of all of that, the UI is amazing.
4 ★I've used Elevate for years, and I do truly feel its helped my math, writing and comprehension skills. Downside? The price. Would really appreciate a sale or discount once in awhile. Hard for me to get on-board premium when the price is so steep, and I'm not exactly rolling in the dough. With that said, I would say it's a worthwhile investment. ESPECIALLY if you seek scalable improvement and like playing games.
4 ★The games are really fun & simple. I tried the Free Trial, since most games are restricted. The pay option gives more games that test various subjects under math & reading. I learned a cool & faster way to subtract & write math proportions, but the reading excercises were easy for me as a Sophmore/Junior in High school. Despite this, Elevate is a fun app. It also has nice, colorful graphics. I wish it didn't cost $40.00/year to keep playing it. Otherwise, I'd recommend it.
4 ★I really really enjoy the app, from what I can access. As of now I can do the 3 free exercises. The app will not let me try the 7day trial or just straight up buy it. I've been trying to buy it for almost a week and it keeps giving me an error message saying there's something wrong on our (elevate) end. Super frustrating and about to give up trying to get it.
5 ★I haven't done all of the games this app has to offer but all the ones I've played have been fun, informative, creative and attention grabbing. I'm also in love with the daily quiz format as it makes it more goal orientated instead of fast burnout orientated. what?I mean, is that you can't cram so many quizzes in your head that you'll burn out and? quit the app the next day/week. It's enjoyable and i would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their mental operations in a fun way.
5 ★I decided to try the 14 day free trial and found out this game strengthens a lot of my weaknesses. You also get to see your improvement. It's simple and fun. I haven't tried many other apps like this. At this point I don't think I need to. I try to keep a few apps on my phone that involves learning. One other is duolingo. I feel the mood of Elevate is very comparable with how easy it makes learning. I would recommend trying it. Google makes it easy enough to cancel a subscription.
1 ★"Sign up for our seven day free trial then $39.99 per year after that." This is basically the message you get as soon as you complete the placement test, which mostly just consists of very basic level 1 regurgitation questions. Certainly, nothing I've seen so far is interesting enough to make me want to pay $40 for it. You're probably better off going to Khan Academy or Coursera, options that will teach you applications, not just rote memorization, and won't charge you upfront either.
4 ★A great app for brain training. I really see a difference in certain places, especially mental math. I don't think the memory games for remembering names help as much, especially since the faces are illustrated. They should switch to stock photos for that exercise. Also, the explanation of some of the mental math techniques needs to be broken down more, don't skip steps! Overall, I think it's worth what I paid for the yearly subscription, but some of the games need refinement.
4 ★More challenging than it looks--and it actually works! With only the free version limit of three games per session, I've noticed improvement in my target areas (mental math in particular.) [UPDATE: I decided to switch to premium. It's definitely worth paying for! But some of the exercises seem weighted toward people who type more rapidly with their thumbs. I don't like that.]
5 ★Even though I can see my improvement as getting better at the actual games, I believe this translates to greater comfort in doing those same mental calculations/tasks in real day-to-day situations. One improvement might be the option to only hear (and not see) some math problems, like "what is 22% of $13.50". That may be a useful tool as it would force me to visualize the problem in my mind. Also, it is difficult to hear when the computer voice speaks wrong words in the speaking errors game.
4 ★Great for sharpening skills typically unutilized after high school or college. The only downside is that playing requires a one year subscription. Also, the subscription price is a bit steep, considering you're only receiving a years worth of access. They should consider giving those interested the option of a low price monthly subscription, if they continue using their current model instead of offering single payment access. Cost aside, it does seem a useful and effective learning tool.
3 ★So far I am enjoying the app, I can't really tell if the games are helping 'train my brain' yet, but it's a good time killer that helps my brain wake up in the morning. With that said, I think the pricing of this app is where it loses me. It IS possible to avoid signing up for the free trial and continue as a a free user, but your usage of the app is very limited. A 14 day [2 week] trial period is very short, and $40/year is far too much in my opinion for what amounts to a mobile game.
