3 ★For the most part, I enjoy watching their documentaries. I gave the service 3 stars though, because A) I hate that the developers don't show air dates of its documentaries, and B) the service rarely updates with brand new material. The majority of documentaries that are updated each week, and included throughout the whole platform are usually older (many as old as the very early 2000's). For me, a huge history and archeology buff, I want to see what new scientific information has been found.
2 ★I paid for a subscription so I could download some shows, THEN it tells me the downloaded shows will be deleted after a month, which is not what I was paying for. I deleted the shows in the app, but the storage space was not released. App was using over 3 gig of space with no downloads, ridiculous. Too bad, because they have some interesting documentaries.
2 ★The documentaries available are wonderful, there is such a wide variety of topics, and there really is something for everyone. However, if you pay for a subscription, READ THE FINE PRINT!!!! I'll summarize it for you. You don't get an email when your subscription is almost up, so if you aren't planning on renewing, cancel before the new billing cycle starts.
5 ★Let me start off by saying, I normally don't bother using subscription-based streaming services for a variety of reasons. However, I really love documentaries. So when I saw that there was an app for just documentaries, I decided to give it a try. I've had Magellan now for 6 months and have loved it ever since I got it. The amount of content is great and they add new documentaries very often. All of the videos are high quality (no low-budget home made content). I would highly recommend Magellan!
1 ★I downloaded the app 2 days ago and have only been able to watch one documentary. Each time I click on a new video the search icon continues to search with no available documentary to play. I drive a lot and like to listen to history documentaries and thought this would be great. Very disappointed.
2 ★The content is nice and seemingly well produced but this app is TERRIBLE! If you cast from your phone the screen is constantly rotating, regardless of the actual orientation of the device. Seriously, did anybody even bother cross platform testing this, or was the development team like 'it works on the iPad we have, so its gonna work everywhere!' Complete amateur hour effort here people. Enjoy the shows but make sure to load up on Dramamine first!
2 ★Can't even cast on day 1. I just got the app and signed up for my 30 day trial. I've been trying to cast from my phone to my Chromcast and get an error each time I try to start a show so I haven't even had a chance to watch one yet. 2 stars because I was excited to watch so many titles. Hopefully, I can figure it out and can change my rating. I had high hopes.
3 ★It will not allow me to see more information on other documentaries and will just stop working after sending me to the home screen if I try It will also randomly stop working and refuse to open so I clear the cache per reccomendation of customer service However I have to keep deleting and downloading the app to work and don't get me started on the tv app
1 ★Bunch of crooks. I sent them a message to cancel and they said they never got it. Then refused to refund an entire year of subscription cost, even if it was a mistake on my end. And never replied to a second email asking them to reconsider That's the kind of people you're dealing with. Think twice before you sign up.
2 ★The content is pretty refreshing. It's definitely different from Netflix and HBO Go. My main gripe is I don't feel like paying for a subscription ( btw so many of the good documentaries and docu-series require a subscription) when the app glitches so damn much and so many of the reviews on here have even corroborated my suspicion that the subscription will not be worth it. Definitely has a lot of potential though..!!! There is definitely an appetite out there for substance over volume..!
5 ★After the 29th Dec 2023 update programs no longer freeze after 4-5 mins on Samsung. Excellent App with huge array of nature, ancient history & science, excellent quality very reasonably priced per month. 10/10
1 ★App is absolutely terrible. I can watch 10 minutes into something (anything) and then it crashes. Love MagellanTV content but the app is garbage.
