Progettato a metà degli anni ’90, il Valtellina Golf Club inizia ufficialmente la sua attività a maggio del 1999.
Nato dalla scommessa di un gruppo di sponsor appassionati di golf e di Valtellina, il circolo ha contribuito alla diffusione del golf in provincia di Sondrio raccogliendo ogni anno nuovi giocatori. Fondamentale è stata la filosofia di apertura del circolo: nessun obbligo di sottoscrizione di quota azionaria o a fondo perduto e agevolazioni nei confronti dei neofiti per un approccio libero e graduale al golf.
Il Valtellina Golf Club, oltre ad essere un circolo accogliente in cui praticare sport e stare in compagnia di amici che condividono la stessa passione, ha contribuito da subito ad arricchire l’offerta turistica valtellinese e valorizzare le caratteristiche di un contesto naturalistico di rara bellezza; situato a due passi da Sondrio in riva al fiume Adda, è circondato dalle vigne delle Alpi Retiche e dai verdi boschi delle Orobie, dal bianco massiccio dell’Adamello e dalle cime granitiche del Disgrazia.
Il Valtellina Golf Club è molto tecnico, alterna buche molto lunghe ad altre più corte e delicate. Spesso a partire dal pomeriggio, il vento che soffia da ovest a est aumenta le difficoltà.
