Description
The Centre for Technology in Education (CTE) is an applied research centre which strives to leverage existing Information and Communication Technologies to improve education systems. We at CTE believe that the equitable provision of quality education is critical to inducing meaningful progress in development contexts. CTE is currently engaged in a DFID-sponsored initiative aimed at digitizing curriculum content and improving learning outcomes within public schools. The project will deploy a number of mainstream technologies, such as televisions and PC tablets, to deliver multimedia instructional and assessment materials to target classrooms and thereby enhance student engagement and learning.DIGITIZED LECTURES:
Training and equipping teachers to employ technology-mediated materials such as instructional videos and interactive simulations, to deliver uniformly high-quality instruction.
SCIENCE & MATH:
Strengthening 8th grade students' understanding of science and mathematics concepts through multimedia content developed in collaboration with subject specialists
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM:
Learning and assessment continue outside of school through the SMS-based Intelligent Tutoring System. To ensure parental engagement, automated phone calls are used to inform them of student attendance.
