Android heap dumps must be converted into standard Java format using the Android SDK tool hprof-conv. Only converted heap dumps can be opened in the Eclipse Memory Analyzer (MAT) tool. Trace files can be opened directly in the Android Device Monitor, which is part of the Android SDK. Traceview has been replaced by Android Device Monitor.
