ShakeAlertLA alerts you that an earthquake has been detected and that you may soon feel shaking. You can also use this app to prepare for an earthquake, get details on recent earthquakes, and find help after an earthquake. This app is brought to you by Mayor Eric Garcetti and the City of Los Angeles, and built on the ShakeAlert system developed by the U.S. Geological Survey.
Latest updates
What's new in version 1.1
This update notifies ShakeAlertLA users who may experience shaking from earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or greater within Los Angeles County. This was previously magnitude 5.0 or greater. Event time now displays in Pacific Standard/Daylight Time. Interruption (do not disturb) setting options allow users to be notified of an event when on silent mode. An explanation is provided on how location data is being used. And, a link to a demo of what an alert will look and sound like is provided.

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?
A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading). As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.
Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?
A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.
Q: What are Android App permissions?
A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

2 ★Very glad the app was released (thank you!), but very unclear how it is going to work, so you can know what to look or listen for from your phone (no "demo" mode). Also terribly insufficient supporting material. Will it work if "do not disturb" is turned on? Does volume need to be turned up? Alerts turned on? Will it work if in "airplane mode", etc. Better supporting info, documentation and the ability to demo will save lives.
2 ★I really want to love this app because I think its a great tool from a credible source. I dont even mind about it needing my location. I mean... how else are they supposed to pin point u for accurate info and warnings right?? Only problem (at least for me) is that it wont let me push "allow" for me to give permission to do so! Its like the "button" is dead. This obviously makes the app useless and i must uninstall. Bummed. I like to be informed and was so excited to have an app from CalTech.
5 ★For a new app, it is well thought out: - easy-to-use practical information, - covering before, during, and after, - equipped with lists and maps, - seems to alert only those in affected areas by accessing phones' locations. So far, the app requires minimal access to private information and battery drainage. It needs a few important features such as DND override and offline capability. Reminder: this is not a prediction app but to alert the ones in progress. The app helps you survive through.
1 ★Doesnt even work at all. Great idea and much needed, but this aint it! Its July 4th, and we just had a 6.4 quake here in So Cal, and though I had my location turned on as requested, its 3 hours now since and STILL nothing registers on the app! Nothing! Like it didnt happen! No warning at all, and as far as the app is concerned, nothings happened today! Very disappointing! Deleted! 👎
1 ★Useless! Just had a 4.6 magnitude earthquake 6 mi from my place. The app didn't alert me.
1 ★I have yet to get an alert from this app. Not even once. And we had a big one last night.
1 ★Great idea, but there is no reason given in the terms as to why constant location monitoring is required or what the data is used for. As soon as a user denies the location tracking, the app shuts down. I hope this is corrected in the future. An obvious fix would be to just push the alerts out to anyone who has the app; no tracking necessary.
2 ★Doesn't work! I have push notifications, location services, and the app is up to date. I haven't received any alerts not even for the 6.9 earthquake last night and I've been in LA for all the earthquakes. The recent earthquakes maps don't have anything on them. The only thing that works is the tips and planning which is why Im giving it 2 stars.
1 ★this app does not work at all. we just had an earthquake July 4 2019, 6.6 centered in Mojave desert and felt it all the way here to LA through the Valley and no notification in the app and it did not pop up or alert us. waste of time for this app. have the app fix it first and as soon as the app work, then recommend to everyone. don't even install them. i am going to uninstall it.
1 ★does not work! after the 6.4 on July 4th we were told it worked but the trigger to send an alert was set higher than the 6.4 itself. they said they are already lowering it. now the followibg day we had a 7.1 and it still didnt get triggered. this app is just something the mayor of LA is using as a propaganda tool. this app does not work.
1 ★Does it even work? Not that I can see. I just felt an earthquake in camarillo that my friend also felt in Las Vegas (my pool was spilling out everywhere). I can understand that they wont alert you to anything under a 5.0 but whatever strength this last one was, it doesn't even show up on the list. Also, if this app only alerts you to quakes in LA, then why do you need to know our location at all times? Sketchy.
1 ★3 earth quakes in 2 days. 6.7, 5.4, and 7.1 not including the thousands of aftershocks and the app has failed to alert on a single one. Concept is nice, but useless if it doesnt work after it was said to be operational. At this point I feel it was a waste of tax payers money. still today the app shows there has been no history of any earth quakes. Truely deserves a zero rating.
