A refreshed and streamlined user interface makes it easy to get more from your home entertainment experience.Available as a free download, the app is compatible with all network-capable Onkyo A/V products as well as selected network-ready products released during or after 2009.
Note: Onkyo network components manufactured prior to 2009 will gain compatibility on a model-by-model basis.
Functions Enabled by Onkyo Remote
(1) Audio streaming services operation. Stations are touchscreen-selectable, with no need to view a TV display
(2) Control of streaming audio files from a DLNA-compatible server. Your android device can be used to select music directly from the server

(5) Information including station frequency displayed when listening to radio. (Note: available only on A/V products with a built-in radio tuner)

1 ★Doesn't work but I'm not surprised since I emailed Onkyo for a replacement remote and they didn't bother to respond.
1 ★It finds my amp but then crashes every single time when you try to connect to it. Utterly useless! Onkyo clearly don't care, 2.7 overall rating, and no updates since September 2016. They'd rather that you buy a new amp.
5 ★Absolute game changer for Zone 2 on my deck. My Onkyo 636 and phone are on same network and I play Pandora, Spotify, Sirius all from my phone. Also listen to vinyl and control volume without entering house. Very pleased. The app might be a bit limited but does exactly what I need it to.
1 ★Sadly worked great for years now nothing. I tried uninstalling and installing...nothing. essent8to easily control multiple zones. Do better Onkyo and fix it.
1 ★Horrendous experience reasonably new receiver $800 and the app doesn't work at all. 9/10 times can't connect to receiver an absolute joke. Never Onkyo again.
1 ★Useless! So you spend a lot on money on a receiver and Onkyo now do not support Andriod updates? Is that the real reason why this app no longer works. If you thinging of buying Onkyo I hope you look at the Apps comments first. Then maybe they will pull their finger out!
1 ★Very disappointing that the app for NR646 is no longer working. It crashes as soon as you open it.
2 ★I use this App to drive my TX-8150. The app works but it could be much better. The GUI design is nothing special. Usually I play the music from a USB drive. I am particularly annoyed by the difficulty of looking for a song or disk. There is actually no search option. Then if I scroll my list of the artist in the usb, I select one of the and the I go back to the list, the list goes back to the A and does not have the memory of the position. So I have to scroll back to where I was.... Not convenient when you have 100d of disks. That drives me crazy.
1 ★Needs an update. You can buy a new received, but try to run it from a 2016 app that crashes. Booo.
1 ★Stopped working with my TX-NR545 recently. It's been perfect up until now. Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue, please fix it! UPDATE: Found a fix online! I had to edit the device name in my router so that it was only letters and numbers (no spaces or dashes). After that, do a reboot of your receiver (for mine, it is turning the device on, then press and hold CBL/SAT button, then press and hold Power button. You'll see it say "CLEAR", and it should be good after that.
3 ★Onkyo needed to update the app permissions!! No permission to access the network. No connection to my NT838 since the upgrade to Android 9. Working again. I say again working again. But Onkyo never redponded to one post here!🤨 Before that I thought it was a great app. Really wonderful to be able to control almost every aspect of my receiver. I expect better support for expensive hardware.
1 ★Can't find receiver. Worked ok but cannot find receiver which is connected to my router via ethernet cable. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. Cannot even get to a settings menu to search for and connect. Don't expect much from this app. I may be replacing this receiver before to long and the lack of functionality of this app will factor into the decision of what brand to purchase.
