The official FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app helps you keep in touch with your friends and prepare for adventure, anytime, anywhere! Access your in-game friend list, chat with fellow adventurers, make and share plans using the event list, manage your items, and browse the market board!Please note that an active service account and subscription for FINAL FANTASY XIV are required to use this app.
Please also note that some features such as chat can still be accessed for the first 30 days after your subscription for the main game has expired. You will lose access to all features after this period.

2 ★Having had the app and been playing game since Nov, i am re-issuing my review. It's cute, but not helpful really. You can message ur friends who use the app, but the extra favored location and paying for the extra chocobo bag/retainer for paid version is why I would suggest having this. It would be nice if it showed stuff like gathering logs, handled retainer ventures, eorzea time, available housing, maybe even weather in locations... But definately could use an upgrade to be more useful.
1 ★Honestly, this app is terrible. It's nowhere near intuitive enough, allows you functions for only one character, regardless of how many you have, and is the very definition of "freemium." You can't do hardly anything without paying for it or getting your one login reward everyday. If you're going to design a "companion app" for a game, ESPECIALLY a game that already has a subscription fee, don't try to nickel and dime your playerbase. That's just pathetic greed at its most base.
1 ★This app is a good example of a cash grab. It does less then other companion apps that are out for free to play games. Some things are locked behind a pay wall while other options that would be great to have or were hinted at are not even their. 2 examples are chatting with people that are in game from the app or being able to check your weekly currency. I have other problems with it but these are just a few
2 ★This would be a lot better if I could do retainer ventures with it. I would also like to access gathering/crafting logs with it and make different node alarm sets. I play on ps4 so accessing the third party sites for crafting/gathering is a pain. The cost is worth the extras right now but having the above items added as either a base function or for an additional $5.00 would be perfect.
3 ★It's really only good for putting items in the market but you can only have to nuts and can only sell 1 item per nut so really this app has extremely limited usefulness. If 1 nut gave u access to the boards so you could do what you needed...adjust prices of multiple items and more the this would be a great app. Alas that isn't the case, make 1 price adjustment, or buy 1 item, or sell 1 item...all you get.
1 ★So even before expecting you to pay extra just to use the features it does have, (I guess my sub fee and regular mogstation purchases aren't enough for them) Its extremely barebones. Its library features are literally just web links. The only genuine reason for this app to exist would have been to manage retainer ventures on the go, and it can't even do that. The other reviews are correct, don't even waste your time with this. The singular exception and facet you may find useful is that you can use it to look through your character and retainer inventory remotely. I'd say I'm disappointed but FFXIV is well known to be successful by following their one recipe for a good game. They do not innovate.
2 ★Its just ok, doesnt do anything amazingly useful. Feels very restricted as to what it can actually do. Cant use it while youre logged in. Only real use is for moving inventory around when youre not logged in? Would be nice if it showed friends that were online in-game, or if you could sell multiple items at once in your inventory instead of one at a time. Honestly not really a "companion" app. The data base isnt even in the app it just directs you to the internet. Very little incentive to use it
1 ★Somewhat usable but definitely a cash grab. Don't waste your money on coins or the monthly subscription Edit: as of late 2020 this app has gone from vaguely useful to absolute trash. Trying to do any action related to a retainer takes between 2 minutes and never, throwing error after error for server timeouts. Was considering premium for the added bonus' but now I'd just figure uninstall
3 ★The app is good at what is able to do however I feel is a poor implementation of initially spoken ideas. I feel managing your inventory should be unrestricted first off - we don't pay a sub in game to pay another sub just to move things. As well as many expected the chat system to be one connected to the in-game linkshells/FCs/etc. When we have things like discord and what not. The communications in the app are pointless. More perks may also warrant a subscription.
2 ★It's just okay. Premium is too expensive to still have slightly alleviated freemium limitations (we are paying a 10-15 USD sub already to use basic limited features!). Needs more features like ventures, actual ingame chat, etc. If it was 3$ a month instead of 5$ as is, it might be worth it. Atm just install for the extra favorite location tp ingame.
4 ★The app is very useful. It would be nice to see a few features added to the app. Mostly features pertaining to the retainers. 1: being able to maintain ventures. 2: maintain retainers in general. 3: being able to see the retainers, and alter their gear.
3 ★Nifty way to take stock of your items and access the market on the go. A lot of stuff is locked behind their premium service, which is a bit off putting for a companion app to a game that already has a subscription fee, and I haven't yet found a way to figure out how much the premium mode costs from within the app.
