Dalam pelaksanaannya, UNBK berbeda dengan sistem ujian nasional berbasis kertas atau Paper Based Test (PBT) atau bisa disebut juga dengan UNKP (Ujian Nasional Kertas Pensil) yang selama ini sudah berjalan.
