Description
The objective of this mobile application is to make travel safer especially for women. With the help of this application, the traveller would know if GPS of an Auto-Rickshaw or Taxi which he is about to board is working or not i.e. whether it is safe to travel in an Auto-Rickshaw or Taxi.Generally, Autos and Taxis are safe in Delhi but there are some miscreants. The Transport Department, Delhi government is unveiling policies that are expected to ensure the city more safer. The latest buzzword is 'PANIC BUTTON' i.e. (Vehicle Location Tracking Device and Emergency Button), the installation of this button in Public Service Vehicles would be mandatory and it will be a part of permit condition. It will track the location of vehicle.
The 'PANIC BUTTON', would be connected with the GPS device of a Public Service Vehicle and when a passenger will use it , an ‘SOS’ sign would appear on the GPS tracking screens at the department’s control room. Then, the control room would be able to track the exact location of the auto-rickshaw. Further, the mobile numbers of all auto-rickshaw drivers are available with the department and it would warn the concerned driver directly. In addition to this, it would be ensured that all the Public Service Vehicles have GPS services functioning.
For this purpose the Transport department has also set up an 'Operations Control Centre' and it would also track complaints from commuters in real time.
