We are Paravur Bikes Club a cycling club based in north paravur (Kochi) was founded in May 2015. Our humble beginning as a small cycling club from a local town has seen a steady incline of support in this short 12 months from across Kerala as well as few other states of India. Aiming to promote healthy lifestyle through proactive cycling, we regularly use cycle for our everyday commute of 20 to 40Kms. We have a diverse bunch of members in our club of various age and ethnic backgrounds. We divulge the benefits of cycling en-route our fun weekend getaways of 140 to 200Kms.we (PBC Members) are a group of passionate cyclists who live and love to ride. Our club consists of members from all sections of the society,but we are all equal behind the handlebars.we got the finest cyclists in the city to beginners and leisure riders.By living our passion we are also making ourselves stronger and healthier . LEJU K.D is the man who lead us and he is our captain,he is a very experienced cyclist and a super randonneur(completed 200,300,400&600 km brevets organised by audax india).our club consists of 26 members all with a dream to cycle till their end.
Ride History
we have did what others cant even dream about. We have conquered some of the major hill stations of south india and some of best cycling destination in kerala.we have inspired a lot of people to take cycling as a hobby and an exercise and we do support them.we conducted an awareness cycle ride in the city of paravur which included a 5km ride through the city and an awareness class after the ride.The event was a huge success and had an attendance of more than 150 riders,there was riders from all age groups.Currently the PBC had done 7 uphill challenges including Ooty,Munnar,Illikkal kallu and more and 36 other rides like sunday rides,breakfast rides and fun ride.we have did a manjeshwaram to parashala ride and a 600 km challenge.
Since inception, we have toured across serene locations Thommankuthu, Vilangal hills trichur, Poomaladam trichur, Atirampally trichur, Kuttanad Allapuzha,Sabarimala ooty ,Vagamon ,Munnar, Illikkal kallu, kasargod to trivandrum,marottichal trichur,idukki dam and our latest event is to a night ride to thekkady on behalf of world earth day and wayanad cycling from cochin.
Our Message
we will achieve our goals in cycling. we have a lot of future plans ongoing. we are planning to conquer more hill stations and major cycling destinations in the Kerala.we are also planning to conduct a cancer awareness ride in ernakulam city similar to what we did in our hometown, Paravur.We the members of PBC will never give up cycling and continues to inspire and motivate more and more people to take cycling. PBC is by now a registered club and we have much broader aims for the future. We are saving the mother earth by inspiring more and more people to take cycling not only as a hobby but also as a means commuting to work,school,etc. We will conduct awareness classes for the public to understand the benefits of cycling.
Where ever we ride we pass the message of benefits of cycling for health. Cycling is low-impact exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Regular cycling has many physical and mental health benefits. It is one of the best ways to reduce your risk of health problems such as stroke, heart attack, some cancers, depression, diabetes, obesity and arthritis.
Advice for beginner riders :There are a lot of things to be taken care while cycling like hydration,basic repairing,fixing a puncture,nutrition and much more . New riders must also have knowledge about the dress code while cycling, riders should wear padded bicycle shorts compulsorily and shoes for safety of the legs.Helmets are the most important while riding.cyclists should always wear light clothing's .Accessories like spare tube,portable pump,toolkit,nutrition,water,bicycle bags,etc. Cyclists should always be hydrated while riding,it is the most important part in cycling.
