4 ★Really like the game but...Wow...way too many double for the computer when the game is close. I just looked through all the comment and perhaps you should question GLI ability to test the randomness of the throw or perhaps you should play the game for yourselves or not let a computer respond to our comments.
4 ★Too easy to beat. And the engine accepts doubles too often. Cannot play online. But speedy moves, good interface, and dices are fair. And not too ad intrusive, although it increases over time. After XG mobile (which is broken now) its the best BG app I've seen so far. Lots of fun 👍
4 ★Just one small crib: it would be better to have the match score visible at all times. Helps with both cubing decisions and checker play. Also it seems to me that even at the highest level the computer's hitting policies are quite timid. It has a tendency to run to the ace point; and at times, inexplicably, to make a low home board point when it could make a higher one.
2 ★Somewhat interesting but I've played tournament backgammon for years and these rolls are definitely not random. Developer can deny all they want but it's not even close. They hit 1 out of 6 rolls about half the time and numerous other examples. Again, a little fun to play as long as you don't mind extremely long odds.
4 ★It's a very good version of Backgammon - the strength of the AI isn't that high though. In a first-to-15 game against the hardest level, I win roughly half the time. It'd be good to have one or two more levels. The current AI particularly struggles against aggressive play, and is easily tricked into suboptimal doubling.
5 ★Graphics are simple and provide a realistic feel of a game at home with no corny cartoon-like LasVegas circus flashiness. I just want to play Backgammon. The CPU plays quickly making for fast games. I am very new to Backgammon and really enjoy it. I have read the disclaimer which discusses the AI dice roller and game strategy are separated. This has to be accurate otherwise no one would use the app but sheesh... Maybe I need to slow down.
4 ★The reviews saying the bot cheats are hilarious to me because my complaint is that it's not very good. I just lost my first match (to 7) to the level 5 bot. I'm really not good at backgammon. Just learned how to play a few months ago and regularly trounced by my friends. Some particular issues I noticed: accepts doubles too frequently, doesn't avoid getting backgammoned. Stats say it all: I'm 4:1 matches, 15:12 rounds, and 37:18 points
3 ★great little time waster and ads aren't too intrusive. dice rolls are definitely NOT random the higher you go with the levels or if you have a single piece on the board. The computer just happens to nearly always take your piece and double up on its own pieces, you can almost predict it's exact throw.
1 ★The developers solution to increasing difficulty is merely giving more doubles to the opponent and less to the player. *edit from developer's response: after playing the game dozens of times on the hardest difficulty I can easily say you're wrong. *edit again from developer's response: you're wrong
1 ★Poor game play. Computer makes awful moves and isnt punished. odds of coming in with 3 points open is 75%... yet you will fail often here... also interesting dont rate the game. afterwards computer will get really lucky...save your time...
2 ★Another tediously bad dice algorithm. All the level increase means in this game is how weighted you want the dice in favour of the CPU. Level 1 - weighted to you, level 2 - similar, level 3 - realistic. Level 4 - miraculously every time there was a lone counter, the dice roll was lucky. Every time. Even when only a double would work, guess what?!! 3 doubles within 5 rolls. Worth downloading but only play it up to level 3 with the game's own dice.
5 ★Backgammon speed, luck, skill and fun at its finest. The mechanics of the gameplay are wonderful- pure excellence, really. This is the way a game should be designed. Clean, simple, functional and fun. Even the ads are non-distracting and minimal. Highly reccomend!
