Description

ACLU of Mississippi Mobile Justice, modeled after the NYCLU “Stop and Frisk” app and developed by Quadrant 2, is one way to hold Mississippi Law Enforcement Agencies accountable for their actions. If you see something, say something by using ACLU of Mississippi Mobile Justice to document the police interactions you see.

HOW TO USE THE APP:

To Record:
Simply hold down the camera button on the outside of your phone, or open the app and hit the record button at the top of the screen and the application will use your phone’s camera to record both audio and video. To stop recording, simply shake the phone or manually press the ‘click to stop’ button. This video is automatically sent to the ACLU of Mississippi as soon as you stop recording.

After each recording you will be prompted to fill out a short incident report. You can bypass the incident report by simply pressing cancel; however, we encourage you to fill it out so we can learn more about what you saw. Required fields in the incident report are marked ‘required.’ If you are unsure of the information asked in the incident report, simply mark ‘unsure’. Finally, press the ‘submit the incident report button’ to send your incident report to the ACLU of Mississippi.

To Witness:
This feature allows you to know if people around you are getting stopped by the police. When others in your area use Mobile Justice, you will get a message reporting where the police stop is happening. If the dot is green, it means the ‘witness’ feature is activated. If the dot is red it means the ‘witness’ feature is not activated and you will not receive reports on where police activity is happening. This feature is especially useful for community groups who monitor police activity. Be sure to go to “my settings” to turn on “broadcast my location” in order for the ‘witness’ function to operate.

To Report:
This function allows you to access the incident report. You can use this function to report a police interaction you saw or experienced, even if you didn’t film it. Be sure to hit the ‘submit’ incident report button so that your responses are sent to the ACLU of Mississippi.

This app uses the Device Administrator permission.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

3 ★Doesn't work. Should be eliminated. The help function tells you everything you need to know. The app is only a few weeks old. We can only hope that it transmits the report and will do any good or that's a cop doesn't just stomp your phone and you.
3 ★We need an app for Georgia, or better yet just in one app for the whole freaking country, and the shake option needs to be able to be disabled because just walking or moving slightly locks my screen.
3 ★I travel a lot and don't want 50 apps in my phone. Funny how there's a "other" in gender but not in location
1 ★Please deactivate
5 ★Need one for Indiana
5 ★Much needed.
2 ★I travel alot. Why is this app limited to individual states? That's stupid
4 ★Like of all states, Florida is consistently showing up with some nationwide cases. Trayvon alone should be enough of a reason.
3 ★Mississippi
3 ★Louisiana
5 ★Y'all most definitely need to add a mobile justice app for the state ofLouisiana....SERIOUSLY!! PLEASE!!!!
4 ★Please add Wisconsin
