Description

The Thingy:52 app is designed to work with the Nordic Thingy:52™ devices.

Nordic Thingy:52 is a compact, power-optimized, multi-sensor device built around the nRF52832 Bluetooth® 5 SoC from Nordic Semiconductor.

Capture, view, and interact with the sensor data acquired from your Thingy:52. Thanks to its simple Bluetooth API and IFTTT™ integration, the possibilities are endless!

Use this app to connect your mobile device with Thingy and gain access to the following functionalities:
- View the current temperature, humidity, air quality, and atmospheric pressure
- Use it as a compass, step counter, or detect taps on any of its axis
- Check the orientation of your Thingy and get live accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer data at a high rate
- Measure the gravity vector
- Trigger programmable events by pressing the button on top of the device
- Control the color, brightness, and mode of the RGB LED
- Stream PCM audio to its speaker, or play predefined notification sounds when events occur
- Stream audio from Thingy to a mobile device using the built-in microphone
- Play programmable tunes in frequency mode
- Using the free Thingy app, update the firmware on your Thingy as soon as new firmware versions are released

For firmware and mobile developers:
Thingy can be flashed with custom firmware, just like any other development kit from Nordic Semiconductor. The Thingy firmware package contains comprehensive documentation, so you can easily customize it to your own needs.
Additionally, we provide an Android Library on GitHub for your Android development needs. These libraries are made exclusively for Thingy, to ensure that mobile development are as smooth as possible!

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

3 ★Cannot stay connected long enough to get any data. Using Nexus 6 Phone with Android 7. Would not upgrade firmware to the latest. But worked with Nexus tablet. Also, upgraded to latest firmware using the tablet. Still cannot stay connected long enough when using Nexus 6 Phone. I ran nRF Connect. It can stay connected. When I run Thingy App I see GATT Connection timeout error 0x08 in nRF Connect. How do I change this timeout value to stay connected? Can connect via Web app. Increased connection parameters. Now the Thingy app takes longer to disconnect. Even though seems to stay connected for long but unable to read or write any data to the peripheral. Upgraded app to 1.2.0. With the exception of sound feature other options are working on Nexus 6 Phone.
5 ★This ran well for me in my Nexus 7 tablet and inexpensive MotoE, after the suggested firmware upgrade to version 1.1, which took f-o-r-e-v-e-r, at less than 1k/second transfer speed, but it did finally complete. Be patient, well worth the wait! Data collection is accurate, and there's an entire spectrum of data displayed. Seems to be open source both hardware and software. There are clear instructions on the web how to build application with the arm-gcc tool-chain. Very good learning experience overall, and therefore very strongly recommended.
2 ★Firmware update hangs or crashes. Menu items often don't respond, i.e., can only see the environment screen. Some environment values not shown, while others are missing in web interface.
4 ★Nice device and app. Needs a way to select a preference for units.
4 ★Nice app - the Thingy seems to be more robust and reliable than the SensorTag in my experience. A couple of things that are lacking in the Android app: - Fahrenheit option for temperature (only available on iOS right now) - Battery level indicator for the Thingy (this can be seen with nRF Connect app in a more manual method of checking the battery level). - Longer delay options for sensor readings (for cloud integration). - A humidity_update event option for IFTTT. I mention the longer delay for the sensor readings because I would like to feed data to IFTTT, but i don't need "real time" resolution. I am planning to look into a raspberry pi option for cloud integration.
2 ★This app is installed on motoX style and is not able to find thingy device. The Bluetooth on the phone is able to find it though. This is Android 6. Not sure how to resolve this issue .
5 ★Please update the documents, that location services to be enabled. What a wonderful app. Given 1 star because the instructions in user manual was not complete.
5 ★Awesome app, really great to to around with my Thingy!
4 ★I have given it 4 stars because the magnetometer needs a calibration procedure. I am currently travelling north on a bus and The Thingy has done two full revolutions of the compass and telling me I'm heading east. Other than that, it's a great app. Oh, while I think about it, why no NFC support when there is an NFC antenna?
1 ★Could not connect to the Thingy from my Note 4. It says connected from the first screen after thebscan, but after the get started message it refuses to connect at all.
5 ★What a versatile kit and nice function APP! It's really amazing to sensing the real world through Thingy and the APP :)
5 ★Thingy is really cool. Small DevKit with bunch of sensors onboard.
