L'applicativo OpacSBN consente di accedere con modalità di ricerca amichevoli al Catalogo collettivo delle biblioteche che partecipano al Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale (SBN).Consente di:
- identificare i documenti di interesse
- individuare le biblioteche che possiedono tali documenti ed accedere alla scheda anagrafica della singola biblioteca
Le ricerche sono di quattro tipi:
- Ricerca base
- Ricerca avanzata
- Ricerca tramite codice a barre ISBN
- Tramite autore
I risultati possono essere raffinati tramite navigazione a faccette.
Ogni ricerca può essere effettuata su tutti o uno dei sguenti sottoinsiemi del catalogo SBN:
- Libro moderno
- Libro antico
- Musica
- Grafica
- Cartografia
Il risultato di una ricerca viene visualizzato come elenco di notizie sintetiche, corredato da copertina (se disponibilie).
L'analitica visulizza tutte le informazioni principali del documento e delle biblioteche che lo possiedono.
Sono presenti le funzioni di:
- ricerca vocale
- visualizzazione delle copertine, quando presenti, dei documenti
- salvataggio nel menù "Preferiti" di: documenti, autori e ricerche
- condivisione delle informazioni bibliografiche di documenti, autori e citazioni formattate APA e MLA
- visualizzazione delle biblioteche che possiedono il documento ordinabili alfabeticamente e per distanza dal punto geografico in cui si trova il dispositivo mobile
- visualizzazione della scheda anagrafica su mappa della biblitoeca
- possibilità di aprire la scheda della biblitoeca sul sito ABI o sul navigatore integrato nel dispositivo
