2 ★it's Tetris, but de-fanged. the og game mode is hidden in a tiny little button in the corner, and the actual gameplay is hampered by massive margins on the play area that make it hard to see what you're doing and place blocks precisely. the player is left with a sad little ghost of the original game - even the theme is remixed into something worse.
1 ★This represents the absolute worst of mobile game microtransaction culture. The ads are more than intrusive, they're downright dystopian. Every time you finish a level, about 90 seconds worth of gameplay, there is an ad, and they display ads of the most intrusive variety. The kind where you have to close the damn thing three times. Don't want those ads? $2.99 a month. It's vile, it's disgusting, and to do it to a classic like Tetris is borderline criminal. This company can burn.
2 ★This iteration of the game makes me wish the USSR won the cold war. Maybe then I could play without 30-second unskippable ads after every single level, or at least buy an ad-free version of the game. But no, the best you can get here is spending 3 dollars (US) every month for the rest of your life for the privilege of playing without interruption. What a miserable state of affairs. The graphics and music are nice though, kudos to whichever exploited workers had to polish this turd.
2 ★Started off fine, but lately there are so many ads that's it's not fun anymore. Literally one after each level, so I usually quit playing after a single round..... Also, no 2 player option, so that I can compete against friends. I connected to FB, thinking that would enable that sort of feature, and all it did was start me back at Level 0 🙃...Ended up downloading 'tetris' which is bare bones and kind of janky, but allows for true marathon play, if you're truly looking to occupy yourself.
2 ★The "save" function doesn't work to save a block for later in online mode. I have tried multiple things and nothing works. It's also filled with ads, but I wouldn't even mind that if I could have the save function. It's just not working on the app and though the instructions say I can turn on onscreen controls, there is no function for that either.
2 ★I mostly play endless mode, so as to avoid the ads, and it is pretty fun. HOWEVER, never have I downloaded an app before this that will interrupt gameplay with a pop-up- esque redirect to a tab where I get presented with a scam Amazon prize or whatever. Two stars only for the inclusion of the endless mode. If not for that, you'd get a big fat single star.
4 ★A decent version of the classic made for the android. The gameplay at its core is reproduced but it's wrapped in a score system and reward scheme that feels pretty useless. The audio is generic and there is no real value to the visual effects. If not for the gameplay genius that is tetris this would be nothing. Worst part is that ads are forced on the player between plays. I downloaded this app because of its anti-anxiety qualities. Please help it help those that need it!
1 ★This game has been around a long long time, there is no reason that there shouldn't be more customization options with the game modes by now. I want a permanent level 1 option, to just take the game slowly and have fun rather than dreading the inevitable panic of it getting faster. I understand not having a leader board for this option but it should be an option regardless.
4 ★Seasonal and weekly goals are back!!! I was so sad when they removed that that I uninstalled the game and gave a one star review. I'm so glad they came to their senses! I do miss having quick play, marathon, and royale but I understand why they use levels now. I hope they reintegrate these into goals in the future, especially royale. I do think the levels are a tad too short to be having an ad in-between every single one. It gets a bit excessive.
1 ★Used to have a competitive mode daily where you compete against people around the world for real money, removed it. Used to have battle royale, removed it. They removed all content that involves the coins, so now there's just a useless currency. No options to change drop speed for the newer "levels" feature. Teams were removed "to come back at a later date after improvements", no later date stated. Marathon mode is the only decent mode left. Ads after every level, before every marathon attempt.
2 ★Tetris is a classic and lovable puzzle game, adored by a ridiculous amount of people. So, why did they have to go ruining it by adding an excessive amount of ads, terrible microtransactions, and making it so you can't even use it without an internet connection? Tetris was the best mobile game to play when you were out of service. I barely play now because there's always something better to do when I actually have service. Guess the devs have never heard of, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
3 ★Ads, ads, and more ads. Finish a level, watch an ad. Need a few extra moves, no problem. Watch two ads. Some are skippable after a few seconds, many are not. Sometimes it takes longer to get through the ads then it does to complete the level. It's too bad because it could be a good game but as it is I can't recommend it. Do better!
