Because he came from the descendants of the righteous prophets. Prophet Joseph was the son of the Prophet Ya'qub AS, his grandfather was the Prophet of Isaac AS, and his great grandfather was Prophet Ibrahim AS. So his full name is Yusuf, bin Ya'qub ibn Ishaq bin Ibrahim AS. Allah tells the story of the life of the Prophet Yusuf AS to our Prophet Muhammad SAW in Yusuf's letter. Even the entire contents of the letter tell about the Prophet Joseph AS.
It is said that Joseph was the smallest child of 12 siblings. His father, Prophet Ya'qub was very fond of him, because of his good temperament. That made his brothers jealous of him.
One day Joseph, who was still a child at that time, dreamed. In his dream, he saw eleven stars, the sun, and the moon, all prostrated to him. Then it was told to his father.
"O my father, I actually dreamed of seeing eleven stars, the sun and the moon; I saw all of them prostrated to me." (QS Yusuf: 4)
From his dream, his father knew that this child would have a high position, then the Prophet Ya'qub said to him:
"My child, do not tell your dreams to your brothers and sisters, so they make treason (to destroy) you. Surely the devil is a real enemy to humans." (Surah Yusuf: 5)
Prophet Ya'qub forbade Joseph to tell his dreams to his brothers, for fear that they would be more envious of him and intend to harm Joseph.
