Govi Mithuru is a mobile based agriculture advisory service under the theme ‘Securing Crop and Family Health’. It was initiated as a mobile based solution to overcome the existing information gap in the sectors. This app inspires the rapid growth of farming in Sri Lanka by allowing the farmers to access relevant and accurate information on time.
Information is customized according to each farmer’s needs and requirements with indicators for stages of cultivation, location, type of irrigation, seed type, and much more. With contents provided by the Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka, and other authorized bodies, Govi Mithuru is providing a wide variety of key solutions for farmers including new categories such as crop protection and pest and disease information, information related to management practices, home gardening and floriculture information, crop pricing and future crop planning recommendations. The crop pricing service provides access to wholesale price information collected from major market places and economic centers on a daily basis.
The app provides information in all three languages (English, Sinhala and Tamil) in an easily understandable manner, through text and multimedia contents. Govi Mithuru is continuously updated to ensure that farmers have access to the latest information, with timely updates to both existing content and information on a wider range of crops.

The app provides push notifications with key information, customized with respect to each farmer’s individual farming practices, and the respective agro-ecological zone the farmer resides in.
Another key feature is the dissemination of emergency alerts related on the ever-changing agricultural conditions, including pest attacks, the incidence of disease and other risks, allowing early warnings and adequate time to respond.
