Padahal awal berdirinya tahun 1984, SMA 17 Agustus 1945 Surabayamemiliki prodi Ilmu Alam (IPA) dan Ilmu Sosial (IPS). Sejak berdirinya sekolah sampai sekarang memperoleh hasil akreditasi dengan nilai "A" yang dikeluarkan oleh BAN-SM.
