Youth Islamic Study Club (YISC) Al-Azhar adalah organisasi pemuda masjid yang pertama berdiri di tanah air. Didirikan di Jakarta pada tanggal 16 Mei 1971 atau 12 Rabiul Awal 1391 H. Dalam dimensi kesejarahannya, organisasi ini muncul sebagai jawaban atas berbagai persoalan yang menghinggapi generasi muda pada masa itu yang sedang mengalami perubahan seiring dengan pola kebijaksanaan di tingkat lokal, nasional dan global.
Para pendiri organisasi ini adalah generasi muda Islam yang sadar dan prihatin akan gejala merosotnya moral dan mental generasi muda yang cenderung semakin jauh dari Aqidah Islamiyah dan cita-cita perjuangan bangsa Indonesia, mereka merasa terpanggil untuk memperbaiki keadaan. Hal ini merupakan wujud dari rasa tanggung jawab sebagai pewaris dan pengawal Aqidah Islamiyah & cita-cita kemerdekaan bangsa Indonesia yang merupakan rahmat dari Allah SWT. Kemudian berhimpunlah mereka dalam wadah yang diberi nama Youth Islamic Study Club (YISC) Al-Azhar.
