Description

Obsolete, Install the "OnStep Controller2" for current releases.

OnStep is a DIY computerized GoTo controller for Telescope mounts. This App controls most functions through Bluetooth from your Android cell phone or tablet. The user can align the mount, park/un-park, program PEC, and find and go to objects from several catalogs. Including: NGC, Hersclel 400, and Messier catalogs along with an catalog of bright stars.

Note: To get up and running:
1. This version is for use with OnStep 0.99b10 or earlier (Obsolete), configured with checksum enabled on the Bluetooth serial port. This version of OnStep uses a variation of the LX200 protocol and isn't compatible with other software/Apps. This version exists to support those who don't wish to upgrade to the Stable or Dev branches of OnStep, which overcomes this limitation.
2. You must pair the OnStep's Bluetooth adapter to your phone or tablet.
3. You must find the OnStep's Bluetooth adapter address and enter it in the "BT Addr" configuration menu from the Apps main page. This needs to be set just once.
4. To get going... you might want to set your location(s) in the "Site" configuration menu first. Then, use the "Home/Align/Park" menu to set the date and time and start an "Align". Once the align is started, select a bright star that you can easily identify from the list and do a "GoTo". Finally, select the "Guide/Center" button and use the controls to center the star (or you can move your 'scope to it manually) and press the "Align" button. From here, you're free to select objects from the lists and do GoTos.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.
