Der TCS Car Assistant überprüft das Auto laufend auf rund 5000 Fehlercodes und informiert schnell über Fahrzeugprobleme via Smartphone oder Tablet. Dadurch können etwa unnötige Reparaturkosten oder im besten Fall sogar eine Panne vermieden werden. Sollte es trotzdem zu einer Panne kommen, kann der TCS schneller und besser helfen, weil die identifizierten Fehler direkt an die Nothilfezentrale des TCS übermittelt werden. Die Zentrale wird zudem automatisch im Falle eines Unfalls benachrichtigt und kann gegebenenfalls lebensrettende Hilfe aufbieten.

Basierend auf den übermittelten Fahrdaten wie Geschwindigkeit, Beschleunigung, Bremsverhalten und Kurvenfliehkräfte, erhält man für jede Fahrt einen individuellen «Driving Score». Mit dieser Fahrerwertung lassen sich hilfreiche Rückschlüsse auf das eigene Fahrverhalten ziehen. Der «TCS Car Assistant» enthält weitere nützliche Funktionen: So kann sich der Nutzer auch die nächstgelegene Tankstelle mit TCS-Rabatt anzeigen und sich hinführen lassen.

2 ★App is very pretty, but does not work well: - during registration, it considered several times that my PIN was incorrect. After 3-4 attempts, it was accepted. And if you pause to look at the user's manual, the Bluetooth connection is lost and you can forget about registration and start from scratch. - As a general rule, everything regarding the connection to the dongle is very slow: about 30 s for every interaction. My phone is 30 cm away from the dongle (it is below the wheel, not in the trunk) - Notifications pile up: notifications for Trip started / stopped appear after each start / stop, even if there is already such a notification. - I get a 'firmware update required' for each trip. When I click on it, it connects to the dongle (30 s), shows the current revision (30 s) and then tells me that the firmware is up to date. - I just launched the app in order to give details about another issue, and the app seems to have renamed itself to TCS connect and lost my registration information - Trip details show 'location is being determine' even days after a trip. - My car (Passat GTE) had an issue (too much oil) that was not reported. Phone is Pixel 3. This app needs a lot of work...

1 ★Does not work on my device. Crashes immediately. Works on an older device, but on that it fails to connect with the car/connector. See it in bluetooth devices, but it won't connect and the app doesn't get any data from the car... Waste of time...
