Thai is more influenced by Sanskirt language while the vocabulary is influenced by Chinese. As a result their alphabets are quite different, but the sentence structure is quite similar.

Vietnames and Thailand are neighboring countries, the languages they speak are influencing to each other. When you are familiarized the alphabets, you are easy to take control of both languages.
