Hardback is a deck-building word game, a prequel to Paperback. As an aspiring 19th-century novelist, you work to pen your next masterpiece, earning prestige along the way. Specialize your deck in certain genres to exploit card combinations, and press your luck to draw extra cards — but make sure you can still string a word together!

Players build a deck of letters with various powers and race to 60 fame points to win.

5 ★Heads up it looks like the servers might have crashed last night. Lost my friend list and active games

4 ★Great looking app. I'm a big fan of the paperback board game and wanted totest out the mechanics before taking the plunge on the physical copy. I'mhaving issues though when I zoom in on cards to read the fine print. When Iuse the zoom feature on opponents cards it will occasionally freeze thecard data and there isn't a way to minimize it again. I have to close thegame when this happens. It also happens during the purchasing phase. I'llpull up a cards stats and the try and do the same for another card and noneof the cards on the market are responsive. I can still usually buy ink atthis point, but usually it is best to just restart the app.

3 ★I like this game and I'm glad I purchased it. However, I cannot recommendit to others. There is a TON of unused display space yet the cards, thecrux of the game, are tiny and hard to read. I don't have a tiny phone, butI don't have a phablet either, and the game is ultimately irritating toplay because of the poor game board design.

4 ★I'm hugely impressed by this game and would rate it 5 stars if it weren't for the bugs. After enjoying Paperback, I came to see how this game compares. It has developed the basic concept of that game quite a lot. It's quite amazing to see how a deck-building, strategic game can be created from the simple "make a word" concept. The game has a few bugs but I've found the developers to be very quick in response.

4 ★No doublt this is similar to Paperback. I like the mechanic for using anycards as wilds. The push your luck mechanic also work well. But the Genrecards are what break this game for me. Very often it becomes who cancumulate the same genre cards fastest win the game kind of scenario.Doesn't really matter if you spell any long impressive words because a3-letter word of the same genre can worth 10 stars. And if your opponentcan spell 3 or 4 of those you lose. Other than that, I think it is a fungame and it is different enough from Paperback. But I think Paperback ismore fair. By the way, can developer please add an undo function to buyingink please? Sometime I wanted to sell ink but pressed the wrong button forbuying instead. Can't seems to find a way to undo that.

5 ★Bug? Appears that Inked cards are coming from the player pile, rather than the deck. Edit: Thanks for the update.. appears I've been playing the actual card game incorrectly this whole time!

5 ★Fantastically done. Beautiful art, solid gameplay, and great implementation. My only gripe would be that I'd love an undo button.
